There was a thread/poll posted last week on CZ about Jerry needing to making a move. Many responded by stating that no move was the best move.

After some thought, I have to disagree. Cowboys lack a few more impact players on D. And with the way this offense has played and has the potential to improve even more, this team is a real contender (yes, I realize we are only 5 weeks in). But as much as it has improved, the D is not championship caliber, not even close.

Jerry needs to make some deals before the trade deadline to improve the D:

Trade#1: Joseph Randle, Devin Street and 3rd to Detroit for Suh. Jets want Suh desperately and are 20M under cap to pursue next season. Suh wants out and wil not re-sign with Detroit. Detroit has tons of talent at DL and rotates this unit often. Detroit needs a running game, badly. And are currently hurting at WR. Suh could take this D over the top. Having Suh, Rolo and Wilcox/Church in the middle of this D would be intimidation incarnate. Even if a one year rental (no way I believe that), Jerry needs to do this trade.

Trade#2: Brandon Carr to Jets for Quinton Coples. Jets are getting shredded in the secondary and that trend continues every Sunday. Would rather give up Mo (former 1 bust for a former 1 bust) but he's injured. Coples would add size, athleticism and upside to DE rotation. Coples is a natural 4-3 DE, not a 3-4 OLB. And he is still on rook contract.

Trade#3: future 5th and CJ Spillman for Telvin Smith and Justin Blackmon. Smith would improve speed on ST, potential fit at LB/SS, get rid of a current headache. Justin Blackmon may not play another down, or he could reinvigorate his career ala Rolo McClain. Worth the risk for that kind of talent return.

I'd look at Tuck or Woodley since they signed cheap 2 yr deals in Oakland.

I would also be interested in trading witten, but right now with this offense the price would be higher than in the off season.

We knew that before the season began. Most said they would be awful, well the truth is they aren't. But it's going to take more than Jerry trading some players in the next 2 weeks to get our defense to a point we can win a championship. Besides, you build your team thru the draft.

Another Suh trade proposal ... when will they end? What has Suh done with two other 1st rd picks alongside him? Lose to Buffalo with Kyle Orton at the helm. And will Suh even fit under the cap for 2014? I'm not trading 3 players for a guy who will be here for all of 7 games. Let the Danny Snyders and Mark Davis' chase Suh and pay him $15M+/yr.

Give up Carr? OK, who plays CB? And what about the cap hit? And who wants to trade for Carr with his ridiculously high salary? No one!

Justin Blackmon? Seriously? Matt Millen says 'Heck, yeah! Give me another WR' And who is going to want Spillman? No one is giving you anything for a player with rape allegations and soon to be cut.

Putting blame on suh for losing to Buffalo is like people blaming Romo for our 8-8 seasons.

Tremendously stupid and incredibly embarrassing in either case.

All terrible trade proposals.

I don't understand to love for Suh... I just don't think he's THAT good ($$$)... also, definitely not RKG... never want to see him wear the star on his helmet.

You build your teams with all the resources at your disposal. There isn't just one way to field a winning team. And those advocating waiting and building, then what about the opportunity staring you in the face right now? How many times in your lifetime have you experienced history in the making?

Jerry made his money by taking calculated risks, especially when faced with once in a lifetime opportunities. He makes even ONE key trade to improve Defense THIS season and it could make difference between just making playoffs versus making some real noise once you get there. Cowboys have makings of a championship offense THIS season, who knows what happens next season with FA, injuries, fluke play here or there. Every year situation changes and opportunity is different. Jerry needs to take page out of Marinelli's handbook and be aggressive, give maximum effort and create turnovers. Enough with passively accepting your lot, the time is NOW.

I love the naysayers and know it alls. They always say the same thing, don't dream or even worse, something
is not possible. I built my business by ignoring similar expert advice. Anything is possible if you outwork and out think everyone else. Limitations are for those who lack creativity and the wherewithal to put in the effort.

Strike while the iron is hot Jerry, show Jimmy that you can win a ring without him.
