these have probably been covered on the board today but certain things struck me today after the emotional roller coaster I endured last night!

1. that was some kind of punting going on!. Generally punters are as overlooked as anyone on the roster until of course they shank one 12 yards or get blocked, but the two punters on the field last night were actual weapons. Some appreciation has to be given to the performance of these guys

2.this game may be have been a major step in the development of Romo. You couldn t ask for more adversity. I know if i was in that situation, i would be curled up in the fetal position under the bench with my thumb in my mouth muttering to myself. But Romo hung in there--sure his head dropped a bit but in the final couple minutes he was in charge in the huddle and that could be major with his team mates. It is easy to be "the guy" when everything is going well and you are putting 35 on an opponent, but when you have essentially given the opposition 14 and have looked like crap, then walk into the huddle and take charge it means so much more.
I think his teammates follow him into battle anywhere now.

3. Nick Folk is beyond his years. Talk about a cool rookie. And, I am not just refering to the 2 winning kicks, but that 47 yarder just before the half was huge. I remember looking at the score board and saying--" man they are only a td down!"

4.Anderson has a look about him. He looks smoother and more athletic than your average fullback who usually looks like a garbage can with legs and arms. He caught the ball easily and then looked more like a running back advancing it

5. After watching the Lions Commanders game Sunday and then our game, I have to wonder if there is a new mini trend with defenses. The Lions have a very explosive offense and the skins rushed only 4 and dropped everyone back midzone and deep zone. All the passing lanes were clogged and short completed passes were tackled aggressively. It seemed that the passing lanes were clogged Monday night as well although waiting for some insight from the " Three Stooges" broadcast team was pointless.
The Lions kept trying to go downfield into coverage with no success but credit must be given to Romo and Garret that we started to take what was given in small chunks in the fourth quarter

6. I was a bit concerned by the lack of separation our receivers got last night. Perhaps this was the first game where the absence of Terry Glenn or a speed receiver was noticeable. I mean, the Bills secondary was crippled and supposedly short on talent.

7.I am thinking our run blocking is sub par although it feels easier to blame JJ. I still think we need to look for a feature work horse back in the next few years. I am not sure how long Marion can last with his punishing running style and it would be nice to have someone like Stanton from West Virginia as a home run type hitter change of pace back paired with Marion. JJ just doesnt look like he did in his rookie year and it seems he is getting frustrated.

that is all i have aside from chiming in with the other posts that the broadcasting crew was pathetic last night as was the officiating. If Jaws wants to cheer for Buffalo, feel free, but buy a ticket and sit in the stands. Kornheiser is working hard to try and be witty but he is working short handed. That wasnt the upset of the year Tony; do I have to repeat " it is never over til its over?"
Interference is interference whether it is on a 2 point conversion in front of a rabid home crowd or not

I agree on Cricket, he looks really smooth and agile running the ball.

I think thats how you stop teams like us, rush 4 and drop everyone back. Hopefully we can game plan against this next game.

Great observations.

Maybe it's just me but punting overall has looked good from both teams in the last few games...Is this a league trend?

Yeah, that has to be the million dollar question today...If the Bills' secondary was so beat up, how come no one was very open and why all the INTs?

Pass rush improves each week, IMHO...I like that

I'm hard on the Pile Magnet (aka JJ) but maybe the OL doesn't know how to run block...It seems each game the entire defensive front 7 ends up in the Cowboys' backfield as soon as the ball is snapped, at least once

I remember the excitement/buzz over Grossman when he was getting things started in Chicago, right before he began to freefall...I just hope that isn't what will happen with Romo...Takes a special kind of athlete to get back in there and show poise late in a game after 6 TOs so we'll see.

Lost in the shuffle of a crazy night was Hamlin's nice 4th and short stop early in the first half...I don't remember hearing from him again the rest of the night

thats right! I forgot about the 3rd and 4th down stops.
I have to confess, I basically was resigned to a loss until the Folk kick
I dont know about you guys, but I am not at all nervous when he lines up. Last year I had to leave the room with Vandershank
I think there is something fundamentally different in the mental make up of Grossman and Romo. Romo being a golfer has to help because of the iron mental discipline required to play at his level. As a hacker myself, I know that one bad shot can lead quickly to another ending up in a quad bogey. Grossman looks like a deer in the headlights when things go wrong.
JJ just seems to lack that little wiggle where an arm tackle becomes a hand on the leg instead.
Not sure if you watch Mike Hart of Michigan but he has that little slide that doesnt give the tackler a clean shot

I have a few things.

Kevin burnett and pat watkins made some big time open field 3rd down tackles.

Marc columbo was outstanding those last two drives.

Jason hatcher and bradie james were great...

Very good points, as well.

Golf is a great analogy for that sort of thing and we all know about Romo's deal with golf....True, he doesn't look beat up at all after bad plays so that definitely rides in his favor...I like his mental makeup based simply on how he bounces back from poor plays...But last night?...Geez, he surprised me a lot with some of the things he did last night...And not in a good way

It's a very accurate point about JJ and has to be the biggest complaint about him, he has absolutely no moves...He looks like Witten trying to give a little juke move :lmao: ...But, yeah, the greats or the players with natural RB instincts know how to find daylight...Hart has it, Emmitt had it too...Clearly, JJ does not have it.

Spencer showed some good coverage skill as well.

Spencer was flat out awesome. I didnt mention him because I was just thinking in terms of guys who I think have been overlooked this morning.

If spencer continues learning and getting better at this pace we are going to have one great set of bookend linebackers.

not sure about you but I keep forgetting that Romo has only played what?, 15 games now! I expect so much because he has given us such great performances that I am totally shocked when he throws knuckle head interceptions. With Bledsoe, it was like i was expecting an int any minute.

Spencer is really showing up. Thinking back to Ware's learning curve from DE to LB, it seems Spencer is grasping the LB responsibilities faster??
He does have that explosion that the good ones have though.

I thought Nate Jones had a good play on the Newman fumble. Jones saw that Ratliff was in good position to make the recovery and instead of also going for the ball, he dove at Trent Edwards to try and block him from making the recovery for the Bills. Good heads up play.

Very true...Amazing how a play like that could've gone in the other direction had Newman lost the fumble and Buffalo recovered...Heads up play by Nate Jones and Ratliff...And, again, nice to see your DT running with your star DB :laugh2:
