To all the people who keep saying the defense needs to step up... **** off, They gave up 13 points.

You want them to be the 85 bears/00 Ravens/ 02 bucs? Too bad.

Those were generational... HISTORICAL defenses

Screw turnovers. The problem is the offense. The defense is fine.

And there's nothing you can do. It's just an injury thing.

Want to be mad? Be mad at fate. Because if we're healthy-- no team is better.

Yeah they are FINE..... how many 7 or 8 yard runs did they give up on first down??? How many missed tackles? Penalties? ..... Yep Defense is great, I guess we should not remember the Atlanta or New Orleans games? This is the unit that should be dominating and winning games.

When your starting QB and #1 WR are out, the defense has to once in a while give you a short field. It has to once in a while score points. It has to do more than just be solid.

The same goes for special teams.

Neither are living up to their side of the bargain. If one facet struggles, the others have to step up. It just hasn't happened.

13 points. The team they were playing was basic. They feast on turnovers and don't turn the ball over.

The lead was surrendered on offense and STs.

Screw turnovers.

well there was that 99 yard TD drive, they could have held there and given the offense a short field. Its also OK for them to create turnovers and 3 and outs. With Romo down, its important for them to step up and hold it together until Tony gets back. Remember the offense put up 28 in Atlanta, and the defense folded.

Again. 13 points.

That's enough to win games. Most games actually.

If you give up 13 ppg, you're probably the best defense in the league.

Turnovers are a luxury. You cannot, truly be upset at the defense for that.

You can only be upset about that when the offense sucks.

But honestly I'm not even upset about that. We're injured in the spots that make our offense 'go'.

Just deal with **** luck. Stop harping on the D.

Get off your high horse. You're playing with a backup quarterback and missing the best reciever in the league.

The defense has to force turnovers. They haven't forced one in FIVE WEEKS. Pathetic and they were getting gashed in the second half.

They only gave up 13 points great, but they still can't take the ball away, still getting overpowered in the running game, the secondary is giving up big plays, and they had the Giants backed up and ready to punt and let Ruben Randle get behind them and towards the end of the half McClain gave up a huge play on a simple slant to Dwayne Harris. Also had a numb skull penalty that prolonged their drive.

The defense isn't good enough right now. They aren't dominant. That's what everyone anticipated. This is one of the worst secondaries in the league and even with a good pass rush it can be negated with quick throws and if you can't tackle you'll still give up big plays. Eagles had the same issue. Had a very good pass rush last season, but their secondary was God awful. Mo is our best DB. After him everyone else sucks other than the rookie Byron Jones. Carr looks about as bad as Fletcher did last year. Our safety play continues to be horrific.

I'm usually critical of Garrett's offensive design, which is on the coaches, but not this game. They changed things up some in the running game and trucked one of the best run defenses in the league for over 230 yards. I put this game on the players. On the pick-six, Williams quit on his route. The second pick was a terrible decision and an even worse throw. The third pick was a good play by a DB, but Cassell had no business throwing that ball where he did. And coaches don't cover kicks. Even after 3 INT's, including one returned for a TD, and a kickoff returned for 6, we still had a chance with 1:35 left to go out and tie the game. Until Beasley couldn't catch a punt.

Yep. And Beasley is the guy the coaches have in there specifically for the purpose of not turning the football over there in that situation. That's the whole reason he's on the field at that point, and it still didn't work out.

I like what Lucky gives the offense and would really like to see him returning punts.

13 points.
13 points.
3 of those were when the Giants were backed up at the 1 YARD LINE... NOTE the 1 YARD LINE.... a STOP there and the game is very likely different. Yeah 13 points... woo-freaking-hooo... it's when and how those 13 points are given up...... The Defense is playing just as poorly as the other 2 units, and by far are much healthier.... as such the expectations are much higher...

Just like the offense and special teams, the defense did nothing to win this game.

I've heard it (read it) on here that our special teams coach is one of the best minds in the game. I'm not seeing it.

Me too, at this point. Whoever can make a play, gets some snaps. Whoever turns it over, sits down for a bit.

The coaches this. The play calling that. Team preparation? Pfff.

I'm not giving up either, but these players have got to step up and fricking play. I'm way more disturbed about the failure to cover kicks and catch punts than I am the INT's. Well, Williams stopping on his route is a pisser too. Cassel has had his mulligan. No leash from me next week.

I have to say, though, I'd rather risk Cassel throwing picks than watch the team lose slowly by check-down.

Agreed. Cassel just has a bad day and that should improve with familiarity of his receivers. Garrett should have started Cassel before the break. Don't go back to Weeden. The frightening thing is that Garrett really tried to convince us that Weeden was good. Weeden and Vaughn stunk it up in pre-season. We did not address this when we should have. Garrett is getting to be a liability.

High horse? Are you kidding me?

To not expect a defense that's been largely mediocre to historically bad the last three years to win games by improving upon giving up only 13 points to a div rival is being in a high horse?

That's dumb.

Did Mo Claiborne get hurt? I didn't hear his name all day. I know that's usually a great thing... did he just play that well today? Seemed like Carr was the one giving up the big plays.

Btw, I thought Rolando McClain had a horrible 1st half. He looked to be a step slow and a bit lost. Got better in the 2nd.

Seriously what did you expect? The defense to give up less than two Tds and then have some takeaways and maybe score 3 Tds of their own?

How long have you been watching football? Because clearly you would realize that's something you would expect from the legendary defenses that I mentioned. Not from a defense just two years removed from the statistically 2nd or 3rd worst in history.

When your starting QB is out, you need your D to give your offense a short field on occasion or maybe score some points.

Yeah, they did a decent job today, but they have to help out when we're so depleted on one side of the ball and they just haven't done enough.

Apparently, this defense at full strength save Scandrick still is not so great.

I expected much more from the pass rush regardless Eli's quick passing approach and the safety play has been horrible.
