This is Hardy's second game back and the defense looks light years better... Same with McClain..

It's not really the same defense from the beginning of the season...

They aren't fully healthy either...

When your starting QB is out, you need your D to give your offense a short field on occasion or maybe score some points.

Yeah, they did a decent job today, but they have to help out when we're so depleted on one side of the ball and they just haven't done enough.

This defense has to start creating turnovers for this offense. Man I watch to many games where the teams def get a pick 6. Cowboys def is just pathetic when it comes to DB ints.

Beasley needs to be replaced on special teams. Idk if Whitehead has looked on special teams but he earned a stronger look as a returner today with some great plays on offense.

Seriously what did you expect? The defense to give up less than two Tds and then have some takeaways and maybe score 3 Tds of their own?

How long have you been watching football? Because clearly you would realize that's something you would expect from the legendary defenses that I mentioned. Not from a defense just two years removed from the statistically 2nd or 3rd worst in history.

You are so right. I guess we should not expect the defense to step up. You are much smarter than the rest of us. I've only been playing / watching football for 30+ years and situational football is meaningless.

High horse? Are you kidding me?

To not expect a defense that's been largely mediocre to historically bad the last three years to win games by improving upon giving up only 13 points to a div rival is being in a high horse?

That's dumb.

No I'm not kidding. That historically bad defense did a better job of forcing turnovers despite much, much less talent and more injuries.

Give me a break. Last year's pedestrian defense was better than anyone in the NFC at taking the football away.

When you're playing with a backup quarterback you can't expect to put up 30 points a game. As awful as Cassel was if we just force one turnover this is probably a different ball game. They can't let the offense have even one short field even when they had New York backed up.

128 yards rushing allowed, gave up another killer late half drive for 3, watched the Giants drive 95 yards off their bleeping half yard line in 5 plays (that 3 didn't feel like a win considering where the drive started), forced 0 turnovers yet again.

the offense is a mess, the ST broke down horribly, but I don't know, I wasn't watching the 2nd coming of doomsday out there.

Seriously though, we haven't had a good special teams in years. It's been a non-factor for awhile. Out BEST punt returner on the team is Dez, who will never be allowed to return a punt again.

Step up to what?

No you shouldn't expect them to step up to God like levels.

They did their jobs. Sure at times they didn't loll great. But 13 points is better than the average of every Cowboys team defense since... Maybe ever?

I know when we were 2nd in ppg in 09 it was 15.2 or around there, with very few turnovers might I add.

We won 11 games and the division.

Or maybe if our offense didn't turn the ball over 3 times, you wouldn't be complaining.

Point fingers In the right direction.

It's clearly the offense. That's okay. We know what's wrong with them. Injuries.

Doesn't mean the Cowboys D should come together, and play above themselves and be the 02 bucs because of it.

That just doesn't make sense.

It's just easier to point at them rather than admitting this season is slowly slipping down the drain because of, flat out, unfair (to us) circumstances.

3 of those were when the Giants were backed up at the 1 YARD LINE... NOTE the 1 YARD LINE.... a STOP there and the game is very likely different. Yeah 13 points... woo-freaking-hooo... it's when and how those 13 points are given up...... The Defense is playing just as poorly as the other 2 units, and by far are much healthier.... as such the expectations are much higher...

Just like the offense and special teams, the defense did nothing to win this game.

Uh no. If you can guarantee the defense only gives up 13 pts every week, I'll sign up for zero turnovers.

To all the people who keep saying the defense needs to step up... **** off, They gave up 13 points.

You want them to be the 85 bears/00 Ravens/ 02 bucs? Too bad.

Those were generational... HISTORICAL defenses

Screw turnovers. The problem is the offense. The defense is fine.

And there's nothing you can do. It's just an injury thing.

Want to be mad? Be mad at fate. Because if we're healthy-- no team is better.

Sorry but zero turnovers and little pressure in 5 of 6 games is not acceptable. It's downright bad.

they only gave up 13 points bc they weren't on the field. Why? Because we gave them two free scores. If those are drives, chances are they score more. Cause the D didn't do jack to stop them. Games are won and lost on turnovers. And we have ZERO in 5/6 games

Again. 13 points.

That's enough to win games. Most games actually.

If you give up 13 ppg, you're probably the best defense in the league.

Turnovers are a luxury. You cannot, truly be upset at the defense for that.

You can only be upset about that when the offense sucks.

But honestly I'm not even upset about that. We're injured in the spots that make our offense 'go'.

Just deal with **** luck. Stop harping on the D.

Hard for the Defense to win a game when the offense and Special Teams do everything to lose it for you.

Disgust

Disgust?

Well get used to it.

Pikers will thow up there hands but the true fan will think strategically.
Yo disgust aside, there are factors at play.
When the CEO of your grain elevator ist red in the face with finantial losses, the auditor files a tax credit. And he turn lemonade from lemons.

Yeah disgust is the easy thing to feel.

Butt maybe others will become students off the game and see the flowering of Hardy, Gregory and Jones.

Like a petulent child we will feel disgust but I smell something else in the foul air of Farmers Branch.

Opportunity to see the faults and right the ship of fools!
Opportunity in evaluating young talent, seeing the deadwood and grooming the worthy and yeth, awaiting a respecable draft pick for QB.
Disgust ist too easy and cheap. Belief in better days ist hard!!

Disgust

Yeah. Also hard to win games when your defense doesn't get one single turnover in 4 games. No free pass for this D they crapped away the ATL and NO games

This Special Teams unit has been "Short Bus" kinda special. It's just sad....:(

Opponent kickoff return avg: 37.8yds (1st in the league...meaning Dallas is the worst at kickoff coverage in the league)
Dallas kickoff return avg: 21.3yds (23rd in the league)

Opponent punt return avg: 9.9yds (22nd in the league)
Dallas punt return avg: 3.5yds (31st in the league).

Bailey and Jones are the only thing keeping this special teams unit from total destruction, but the unit is NOT doing well.

Bisaccia SHOULD be criticised and called out. Jerry's not going to do it, so if it comes from the players, the leaders on the team, I'm OK with that. That's what leaders do.

Players aren't developing, adjustments aren't being made, things are just not going well with this unit and it has a direct effect on the offense AND defense.
