It looks like the Patriots are going to make the first big splash in free agency from what I was told this morning. Thomas has agreed to a contract with the Pats and will be in New England today. I'm told he should be off the market in 24-48 hours. I'm not sure if the DMN has reported this yet. Maybe some of you should check.

Wow...that would be a shocker!! Completely opposite of the Pats strategy in FA historically. If it's true, it's a good move for them though.

Any word on how much he will cost them?

The person who told me wouldn't give out numbers but it appears to be a 5-year deal. It's all done. They are just waiting for Thomas to arrive in NE today. I would say with who the source is, it's 99.8 percent true.

VERY interesting. I think BB is starting to realize that his window is closing- this smacks of almost an act of desperation compared to the way they have been doing things up there.

Shift in philosophy for them -- their LB corps went old pretty quickly so this will do them some good.

Who "told" you this? Lemme guess. You have inside sources? Or, wait, I know... your sister's friend is a real estate agent and she saw him shopping for houses in the Boston area, right?

So it's not reported anywhere. You've just been told. Smells more and more like a load of BS speculation on your part. It might happen, but I guarentee that you have no inside infomation on that point. You are just throwing this against the wall and hoping it sticks.

If you are the one who is going to post rumors, then you are the one who should check for sources before making the post.

Can we get a [RUMOR] tag added to this post title?

Thanks.

We all know he has never won a SB without Charlie Weis. :laugh2: I had to throw that in and Parcells if your reading this feel free to use it at ESPN. :lmao:

Ya know every time anyone gives us a heads up, some doubting Thomas has to attack. It's no wonder so much valuable information is withheld.

Before you go off half-cocked, check the history of the poster. It's real easy to do with the search feature.

In this instance, that's not going to help at all.

But we'll see how this one works out.

Be interesting to see just how good your source is. Doesn't sound like how the Patriots typically approach free agency. Thanks for the heads up.

That would be pretty wild for him in NE.

Of course we get to face him this year.

Yes it would have helped.

Anyone who'd click on "find more posts by this user" would find that he's given us advance notice on a few tidbits. No earthshattering scoops but he's been pretty reliable.

Let's wait and see. If I was going to make up a team, I don' think it would be the cheap Patriots. I feel confident that the "rumor" part of this thread will be gone by the end of the day or early tomorrow morning. I'm sure it's only a matter of time before one of the Boston beat writers breaks the story. I like the part where you say, "It might happen." So if he signs by tomorrow then I still made it up? Classic.

I believe it, keep up the inside info doomsday81

and the Pats made a big splash signing Rosevelt Colvin a couple of years back, so it's likely that they do it again

lol si reported this yesterday and im sure u got ur infojust like i did. i read about it
From Don Banks' column:

? Where will the biggest of the free-agent names end up? Sources I talked to Thursday said not to discount linebacker Adalius Thomas winding up with New England -- despite an expected price tag that could approach $9 million per season. While many anticipate Thomas being reunited with former Ravens defensive coordinator Mike Nolan in San Francisco, some within the league said the 49ers won't necessarily make a strong push for him.

and on WEEI shefter said it was a possibilty, but in no way did he say that the pats are the favorites, just players. and that thomas culd be signed to any team thats going after him within 24-48 hrs. this part is off of pats msg boards.
