*** Official Fire/Hate Garrett Thread ***

yes, the 2nd-3rd-4th & 1 has already been talked about...How are you ever going to build toughness in your o-line if you let them know right then & there you don't think they are strong enough to get any push on the Giants d-line.. Great coaching Red

Please turn this thing around Garrett!!! I still want to believe you will turn into a good coach, but you are making it very hard week after week... If this thing doesn't get fixed and we aren't in the playoffs making a run, I will be on the "Hire Cowher wagon"

its time to get rid of Romo, Garrett, Jones and Dez in the offseason.

People will say this is a knee jerk reaction after a tough loss, but I'm ready to see this thing blown up. That's not a knee jerk reaction, that is reaction to watching this team stay mired in mediocrity for 16 plus years.

i think its time too, this team has all the talent and potential in the world, but for whatever reason they cant put it together, its time to rebuild, the last 2 drafts have been good, lets continue to rebuild this team.

I blame Garrett for this lost. It just seems that when the game is on the line he finds ways to collapse. He isn't a good coach when there is pressure. I believe he just doesn't think ahead on whats happening and doesn't have a feel for how the game is going.

This game was winnable. If we had a good coach with that many time outs. I can assure you that we would not have given the ball back to the Giants with the lost of downs with only need 1 yard for a first. Heck, he didn't even call time out. I always surprised that he never uses his timeouts at all.

I agree. There is absolutely no other reason outside of coaching that this team should not be successful. We have the right players in the right places. I mean, it is mind boggling that we struggle so much with such a talented team. Hell, we had 3 guys go over 100 yards today. Our defense was STOUT. We continue to struggle with very solid players.

All the people who want to go into rebuilding mode, please explain if you were GM how would your plan go & how fast do you think you could get this franchise back to competing for championships? Do you just trade your good players, Miles-Witten-Ratliff-Ware-I'd put Romo there too and stock up on picks? lol, I'd like to see some of these ideas.. Do you stock up on the o-line first in this next draft & in free agency, then get your QB the year after.. Love to hear some of the thoughts going on from the peeps on this forum...

You just cannot keep changing coaches every 2 or 3 years..simple as that...

Such fans (calling for JG to be fired) would have called for Landry and Jimmy to be fired too..because last time I checked they had even worse start than Garrett...

Now don't tell me they had nothing to work with..because same applies on this team...yes they look big, athletic, and strong..but they had a brain of monkey and a heart of a chicken...defected culture ...cancerous locker..etc...

Yet, we are still capable of showing some dominant performances and comebacks...

We are on the right direction...but everybody needs to calm down and be patient...

Here's my problem with this. Garrett gives Romo one of two plays to run. Romo doesn't pull a random play out of his butt, he "kills" into the 2nd play.

A fade pass - which even the most hardcore Romo homer will tell you is his worst pass - to our #3 WR who has already demonstrated several times in this game alone he is not always on the same page with Romo, is that the best play to put the game on? Is that what we want to hang it all on with a HOF TE on the field who BTW is ripping the Giants secondary a new one all day long?

Romo killed the primary play, and we don't know what he audibled out of, but why is this horrible idea the 2nd option?

I have a similar issue as well. JG is the HC and the OC. If JG wants to run a running play, he can and will. Look at last week when we ran with Tanner to kick a FG instead of passing.

It 's obvious JG didn't absolutely wanted to run on 2nd,or 3rd or 4th and 1. If he did, he would have ran the the ball like he did last week.

Instead, he thought a fade pass to Ogletree was a better option.

This is coming from a guy who only played HS football until my Jr year but I played baseball in college at UT and UH, so I know a bit about the mentality of sports. I am in no way an x's and o's football expert.

Oh, where to start.....I will go back to two years ago when Wade was fired. I said then that it was the right thing to do, Wade lost the team but I was emphatic that Garrett was not the right guy, he had little experience and was already part of the teams problem. When Wade got fired, Jason should have been right behind him.

Fast forward some, I gave Garrett every opportunity to prove me wrong and he is still severely lacking in that department. His pre-game preparations are bad, the in-game adjustments are usually absent, still has play-clock issues and he absolutely folds under pressure(mostly at the end of games).

I don't want to state the obvious, problems stem from the top but there is nothing that can be done about it so I will not say our GM should be fired. Us fans need some satisfaction and I want to see one of two things happen:
1. Let Garrett go and get a HC who will hold his players responsible
2. Strip his play=calling duties starting tomorrow

Neither will happen, so I want to vent about what I think is another major problem--our WR's are not a right fit. Miles is a good receiver but he is not a #1, he needs to be in the slot. Dez is extremely talented but his head will keep him from ever reaching the elite level. Ogletree needs to be let go or at least demoted, he should not be starting for any team.

Romo, oh where art thou Romo. I love the guy and am glad hes here, best QB we have had since Troy. His problem is.....the whole friggin team(offense) relies on him to bail them out and win. He does throw ill-advised throws and messes up often, but without him, we are really doomed. No QB in the league is asked to do what Romo is expected to do.

So, back around full circle, it is Garrett's job to recognize our offense sucks, in particular, the receivers. If(and they can't) they can not do the job, find someone who will. Stop being so stubborn and fix the problem, play Harris and Beasley or something but make a change. What the offense is trying is not working. I watch other teams and they actually have plays over the middle regularly, not once a half. I even see option plays, crossing routes and play-action.

Did yall see that wonderful play-action Romo scored on? It was a thing of beauty, do more of that, mix it up.

I am done with Garrett for good, I gave him a chance. I could probably live with him as HC, but not both as HC and OC. He is not capable of handling both jobs, he is not ready and was not two years ago to be the head coach of America's team, the Dallas Cowboys where we expect excellence, not strive towards it.

Fair enough. What didn't you agree with?

Lot of the same old tired arguments we see here all the time, so I'd rather not get into now. It's almost 3 a.m. on the east coast and I have to get up at 7:00.

Huh? You do Jimmy won a national championship before he went to Dallas right? Ginger boy has no prior credentials except being jerry's puppet.

It's obvious he's way in over his head. Maybe he's better off as a OC. But he's not HC material. Sorry.

And did you just look at Jimmy's HC record the 1st few seasons because you were too young at the time? Because it was obvious from season 2 things were starting to turn around. And by season 3 it did. Does this team have any signs of turning it around?

Aside from the erratic play calling and subpar game management, the thing that bothers me most about Garrett is his unwillingness to hold players accountable.

He's all lip service when it comes to holding players accountable.

Dez has been reckless with the ball for weeks now. Instead of nipping it in the bud a long time ago by cutting into his playing time, we wait until he turns it over before finally yanking him from PR duty. That was a move that could have and should have been made weeks ago. Instead Garrett and the entire organization would rather be reactive than proactive.

Along those same lines Felix Jones has been absolutely useless in 2012. He's awful at KRs; awful running the ball; and awful in the passing game. Yet we keep running him out there. Why?

IIRC, they didn't even pull Felix from the game until he had the crucial fumble. Again, this was a case of the coaching staff being reactive rather than proactive.

Felix should have been benched a long time ago. In fact at this point he doesn’t even deserve a roster spot and that’s the absolute truth. And that’s not a knee jerk reaction.

Look at his overall body of work in 2012 and try to make the argument that he should be on the roster. You can’t.

Coaches holding players accountable for their poor play would be a welcome sight in Dallas.
