Broaddus also said there was no interest in Sam by the Cowboys at all...none....zip...zilch....but they are planning to sign him. Broaddus on top of things as usual.

He actually said that they had no interest in him during the draft, more specifically.

Broadus comments were his own views after watching Edwards on film.

Not sure that comment is any indication of his 'inside' knowledge.

To be fair, Broaddus likely got that from the scouts and hadn't talked to Jerry.

IMO, that's why he should stay off twitter. I think he actually thinks though things that he puts on the Cowboys website, but not what he says on twitter.

This and if I recall someone even asked Jerry around the same time and said they did not view him as a fit on this D

Broaddus really should just stay off twitter and stick to publishing articles as dc.com.

Hey man it's not like he's at Valley Ranch everyday or something. Give him a break.

Dallas viewed the 6-2, 261-pound Galveston native as a “tweener.” Jerry Jones and Co. felt he was too big to play linebacker but not effective enough as a pass rusher to warrant a seventh-round pick.

“We were thinking about him,” Jones said during a post draft press conference in May, “but when we looked we had to be real careful there in the 4-3 (defense)…a real tweener is a dilemma for us. It’s obvious that guy can be an outside linebacker and can go inside and put his hand down again. But he was that tweener, and we felt like we had gone up and drafted – and paid a high price to go up and draft DeMarcus Lawrence because we felt like he was the closest thing to having a better chance of putting his hand down at that time.

“…We want a guy to be able to rush with his hand down, and then we want some smaller, fast guys at weakside linebacker, and we want a middle type linebacker, and we want some down linemen in the middle, and we want more of the nose type. And I’m not going to get into that. You know exactly what we want. So how it looked for us and fit us didn’t fit.”

They didn't.

How long do you see him staying on the PS? Guy is easily better than any DE not named Selvie, Lawrence, Crawford, Spencer and maybe Mincey.

Crawford is bad as a 4-3 DE. He got no pressure at all in the games he;s played. Stops his feet and doesnt use his hands. Just doesnt look like a fit for this defense. To me he just looks like a 3-4 DE. Thats what they drafted him for.

I was listening to TC just now and they are saying they are worried about Selvies shoulder. Sam i think will be in the mix for the LDE

I don't think Broaddus was as wrong as some of you warn to think. I think there were some back room shenanigans involving Brent's status. I firmly believe that we didn't have any intention of signing him until we found out about Brent's reinstatement.

This is the kind of regurgitative nonsense what you get when your GM has no ability to scout talent on his own.

To be fair here, he wasn't on their draft board either. So it was the entire scouting staff too that didn't see him as a fit here.

Broaddus actually liked Sam, if you followed his pre-draft shows he was a fan of his work and thought Dallas should get him.

However, he said more than a few times on Talkin Cowboys that the scouts [Will McClay] weren't interested in him.

Wow, this guy is the most media covered 7th round draft pick in the history of the NFL.

He must be something.

I think we all know why,he is covered so heavily. We don't need that on our team, too much of a distraction.

It will be hard to root for him, would rather have McCray back, and I really dislike him.
