I'm guessing a call from the league office preceded this. I hate the move. I'm tired of an owner who is a media hound. More drama in Dallas as if we haven't had enough. What Jerry Jones never understands is that the biggest reason we became America's Team is because we WON. The flashy stuff was extra. The substance was a 25 year run of winning football games, and many of them in dramatic fashion. In addition, true or untrue, fair or unfair, the Cowboys had a reputation for class. The one thing I will never associate with Jerry Jones, is class.

Great post I couldn't agree more. Just go back to Deion yes he was great but he was the start of the "flash" signings jj covets.

Its too bad he looks more like a SDE we could use a WDE pass rush specialist.

Wow, this guy is the most media covered 7th round draft pick in the history of the NFL.

He must be something.

Incognito probably gave him a run for his money at one point.

Pre Draft measureables:

Michael Sam 4.71 forty, 33-3/8" arm length, 6-2, 261

Terrell Suggs 4.84 forty, 32" arm length, 6-3, 257

Elvis Dumerville 4.75 forty, 32" arm length, 5-11, 257

Good post. The way people talk about this guy it's like he's the worst athlete in the NFL. Good to see he has comparable measurables to some proven stars.

You have to wonder how a player ends up on the team when it's been widely reported the scouts had no interest in him for virtually the entire offseason...hmm...

Desperation signing?

Desperation signing?

Exactly. My bet is some guys didn't progress in camp like they had hoped. All of a sudden everyone looks like a better fit here if they can play at least a little.

I was referring to someone closer to the team. An Archer, Eatman or Watkins. For all I know Brugler might have heard that from the fake insider I'm talking about.

You once like Broaddus when he was with ESPN, what has changed?

He was alright when he was just telling us what he thought of players independently. Now he works for the team, so he has every reason to tailor his opinions to mirror the team's moves, and is acting like he's being fed information.

Plus I got to know him better. Follow his twitter account tomorrow. See how many times he actually answers the question asked.

Broaddus has always been okay by me. Good listen and treated me well in interactions. Not sure why the hate. I doubt he had any clue about this move nor did the scouting department, who didn't even have Sam on the draft board. This move screams Jerry.

Broaddus had said multiple times on TC that the Cowboys should bring Sam in for a look, but his friends said they weren't interested.

He criticized JG the entire season especially after the Detroit game and the GB was final straw.

How do you know him? Via Twitter?

Actually, he does say what he thinks of players independently. He said many times the Cowboys had no interest in Sam but he would. This speaks more about his lack of inside info than his personal opinions.

I've talked to him several times on twitter but not recently.

He didn't criticize Garrett the entire season. He did in the Detroit and GB games. He's never criticized the two cancers with this team. His bosses. And if you cover the Cowboys and have no issue with them, you are a complete waste of a read. Unless it's for comedy. Which is all he's good for to me anymore.

If Sam turns out to be a productive player for the Cowboys, will JJ get the credit? This was a no brainer pickup for the Cowboys whether they liked him or not. Can't argue with the flashes of preseason production.
