Why? You absolutely want to start and end on the road.

Week 1 is the game where you're most rested by far and the travel isn't a burden.
Week 17 is as often as not a meaningless game; you don't want to waste a home game.

All part of the fun/ennui of the off-season. Nobody remembers what anyone predicted anyway.

This team hasn't been known to come out of the gate flying, so I'd rather be home.

Week 17 is a division game. That means a cold weather game if it's away. While it's been "meaningless" a couple times in recent years I don't have to think far back to recall times when our playoff fate rested in week 17.
