Doesn't get much better than this (from McGinn)...

1. EZEKIEL ELLIOTT, Ohio State (5-11 ½, 227, 4.48, 1): Third-year junior. "He is the only one with all the traits," said one scout. "He's got a chance to be the best player in the draft. He, (Joey) Bosa, (Laremy) Tunsil. He can catch it, he can pass protect, he's got NFL size and he can run. If he stays healthy he's going to be a (Adrian) Peterson-type back." Smartest RB in years (32 on the 50-question Wonderlic intelligence test). "Football intelligence might be the best thing he has," another scout said. "He goes to the sidelines and tells the coaches the block protections. The coaches tell me he tells them what to do. To me, your intelligence is your blocking." Finished with 592 carries for 3,961 yards (OSU-record 6.7-yard average) and 43 touchdowns. Also caught 58 passes for 449. Played behind Carlos Hyde in 2013 before breaking out as a sophomore. Has undergone surgery twice on his left wrist. "Zeke just has the NFL mentality," said one scout. "Love the kid as a football player." From St. Louis.

In all seriousness, I wanna see how many Zoners are pushing for us to take Elliott number 4 overall. I'm all in on this. At first I was kinda on the fence because I know our defense has a lot of holes... but I realized how good we were in 2014 with that run game and that our defense doesn't need to be that great in order for us to win games. As long as the offense is dominant (which it certainly can be with everyone healthy + Elliott), we can keep the defense off the field and win games.

Elliott looks like a special, special player... possibly the next great RB. I'd rather us go get this kid instead of just trying to fill holes in other positions. And as far as I'm concerned there's no slam dunk, sure thing pick for the defense. People think Bosa could be a bust, Myles Jack and Jaylen Smith have huge injury red flags, Buckner looks good but not a can't miss prospect... the only one you could argue is Jalen Ramsey. I wouldn't hate if we ended up taking Ramsey but I really want Elliott so we don't have to worry about the RB position for the foreseeable future... and we'll probably never be in a position to draft a RB of his caliber again for a while. Go get him Jerry! Who agrees/disagrees? Try not to be disrespectful, this is just want I think we should do.

I agree with what you're saying about Zeke helping Romo, etc.

My point all along is that other young backs in the draft can help too. And very good to great lineman (O and D) are way harder to find later than RBs. It's not close.
But yeah, I don't really think DMC puts fear in the hearts of defenses. But behind out line, Henry, K Dixon, or Booker all might (and of course, Zeke would).
If we take him, I won't complain. Just don't be shocked if one of those other backs ends up almost as good.

My thing is this y settle just t settle for a 2nd rd back when that's what he'll be a second rd pick.. Wat is wrong with having the best when he's right there

What's more likely to happen rookie DE gonna get 10 plus sacks or
Zeke getting 1500+ yards 10+ TDs

We r probably better than a 12-4 record team because of Zeke and our defense is better than 2014 ... be real

I was on the Zeke train ever since I saw him shred the Bama defense. I was hoping we'd have a chance to draft him and now we do.

I understand not wanting to take him at four. But Goff and Wentz will be gone, and, you know what? Forget about all the machinations about not taking a running back high. If you feel Zeke is a game changer, then take him. Too much paralysis by analysis. And so what if we might make a mistake and someone like Bosa turns out to be the next Watts? You can only evaluate decisions based on available data, and right now that data is saying Zeke is the best option for the Cowboys.

He will make the defense better and protect Romo.

However, I have a sneaky feeling that some team (Tampa, Miami, the Giants, the Ravens) will jump in front of us to take Elliott because I believe he is the player Dallas is targeting.

As long as we get karl joseph in second... If ramsey is taken third maybe trade back a few spots to a team that WANTS tunsil grab elliot and extra 2nd..That would be awesome.

I'd rather have a combo of Ramsey and Henry than Zeke and whoever...

I haven't considered that but I can totally see a team trading with SD for Zeke.if that happens we have draft JR or trade down for some team which wants Tunsil.

What will you do if the draft goes like this:

1-4: Ezekiel Elliott
2-34: Derrick Henry

If JJ's goal, is to return to be as good as we were in the early 90"s...consider this...

With as much credit that was given to the Triplets, neither of them would have been what they were without a dominate offensive line. When that line started to falter or was absent, it meant the end of the Triplets.
Irvin's career ended because he had to go over the middle into the teeth of an Eagles defense and got slammed into the concrete turf called Veterans Stadium, because of his QB not having enough time. Aikman had to end his career because of the brutal hits he was taking both trying to stay in the pocket and the unfortunate times he was forced to run. (ie, LaVar Arrington). And Emmitt's career basically came to an end on a hit from Roy Williams while playing for the Cardinals.
We have the dominate line, we have an elite quarterback and receiver once again. The only piece that is missing...is a truly elite running back. Our team from last year paid the price for this 4th overall pick....NOW USE IT!!! He's our's...!!!

We're talking about 10 years, not just year 1

Zee can go at least 5 we hope I'm trying to win now and the future.. Zee gives us a waaaaaaayyyyyy better chance for a Legitimate Super Bowl run 2016 and 2017 than ANY other player in the draft

No rookie QB and No rookie Defensive player is gonna bring that type of impact for our team Dallas in 2016 and 2017 as Zeke will bring which is the Romo years who gives us the Best chance at this moment to actually win a Super Bowl soon like next year soon

i don't know whats gonna happen 10 years from now but i know looking at our roster injuries took us out last year when you can run the ball consistently no matter the opponent you control the game 9 in the box Zeke will get that respect i promise u that and I'm well aware he hasn't played a down in the NFL but behind our O line and the lanes he will see, not to mention the run lanes and his god given instincts with the ball in his hands he create breaking tackles and actually scoring so that means Dez 1 on 1 i'll take that matchup alllllll day long teams can pick there poison how y'all want to get beat today ..... and i stand by that statement

I just see Super Bowl when i see Zeke in Dallas ... when he can carry your team with a 3rd string QB to a Ship and do what he did against Alabama and some are worried about him going #4????

what you think he will do with Romo and Romo audibles to the right run plays and Zeke from all counts and scouts says has high football IQ already with his instincts.... mannnnnn i can't believe most people don't see the overall impact he changes the way teams play you

the defense we just need to develop some of these draft picks its 4 games i think we can manage.. when we score points and the other team has to keep up then lets see about this pass rush not like last year when we were no threat on offense at all

and he doesn't fumble ijs reliable
