2 more embarrassing losses will change that - Jerry has hired/convinced Bill Parcells to work for him

It seems fairly clear in retrospect that JJ only did that to get his new stadium. The chances of that happening again appear to be extremely remote.

Lovie would prolly fix this defense too, what I do know is that this draft calls for DT, DE, LB, DE, DT, LB.

We have Lovie's system in here with the man who TAUGHT him the system. All he brings is 10 ppg less to our offense because he's worse than Garrett or Callahan. Look how Chicago's offense has flourished with him gone.

What's it going to be then, eh?

Jones has his stadium. He has no incentive to hand the reigns over to someone like Parcells anymore. Remember? "I hired him to get this ******* stadium build."

A lot of people operate under the misconception that Jones can be embarrassed or frustrated into making a strong hire. That simply isn't possible. See Cowher's interview someone posted last night.

Jones is only interested in winning if he's running the show. Hiring strong coaches and front office personnel to do it for him has no appeal to him whatsoever. The Cowboys are his giant model train set and there's no chance he's giving it up. Our only hope is that Stephen Jones isn't as narcissistic as he appears to be, but that's a bet I certainly wouldn't take.

Spot on.

Except for the hope with Stephen part.

Funny. Most of the posters here wanted him out when he was the OC

He was running BP's offense. Remember Seatle playoff game when they signed CB's off the street for the game and we are not attacking them? That is BP's offense, not SP

I would go for Rex as a D-Coordinator.

Personally, I would like Ray Horton as the HC. Not sure who would run the offense.

Ideally, we need somebody like a Jim Harbaugh. Somebody that would get the running game going and force Romo to run the ball. Somebody that could instill a physical team with a physical defense. I just get the feeling that whomever comes in here will face the same issues. When we need Romo to protect the football and to stop throwing all of the time, the next HC will be in a position where they will end up having to be combative with Romo over it and then it comes down to Jerry taking Romo or his new head coach and he will likely choose Romo and his 1-career playoff victory.

Rex only won when he had one of the best defenses in the NFL. we have one of the worst defenses in the history of this league. He's not going to help any.

I am afraid that's what will eventually happen. Another thing I notice is how Romo's arm is so weak - he is consistently underthowing long passes. He is 34 years old, hope we find a suitable replacement in next 2-3 years.

Horton would probably bring a killer 3-4 back with him. And he can scheme around not having good Lb play with some Dlineman. Have him bring Whisenhunt with him and I'm happy.

Im not under the impression that anybody would be worse then what we have. I live in Chicago land and if your looking for a hard nose no nonsense head coach Lovie is as soft as a Teddy Bear. After listening to Chicago sports talk radio during his years there his passive approach is why the bears never got over the hump.

I wish we could've got Andy Reid or Bruce Arians.

It was obvious last year Jason Garrett couldn't coach. Now we're a year behind and there isn't a whole lot of options that I see.

A year behind? We are more like 7 years behind. Garrett should not have come back here to begin with when Jerry hired him before Wade Phillips.

Dodger12 may have something there with the Holmgren thing. He and Jerry are good friends. He will not want personnel control. He has skins on the wall and Jerry will respect that. I think Romo will play better in a WCO.

The problem is Holmgren's age. Does he want to come back to coaching at 65 years old?

My choices are still Jon Gruden or Lovie Smith. We don't need another coordinator re-tread.

How about Lovie for Head Coach and Ken Norton Jr. for D-coordinator?

Next coach will be Jerry himself, he already thinks he can be a D coordinator and is probably dyeing to get in some nuthugger shorts and a ballcap, whistle on his neck, on the sideline calling the shots himself.

He'd lose his scapegoat though.

I've been saying this all year long. Where the weakness shows up is in the first pick. Not a ton of zip on that pass. And I see it when he throws out patterns. The ball takes forever to get there. The underthrows to me are more accuracy issues. He also had an overthrow to Dez on a deep pass. But where you see a lack of velocity with QB's is usually on hitch patterns and out patterns. On deeper passes it is usually more about accuracy mechanics.

Rex Ryan's biggest problem in NYJ was not being able to find a QB. We have one here, and I know he would prioritize beefing up the front 7 on defense. I would love the hire.
