It is a penalty... at least it was... I thought it still is... who knows?

It has to be. If not a coach can jump up and down in the sideline refs face yelling for a TO he doesn't have. Heck why not do it all the time if it's not any penalty? Sometimes you'll trip them up if you yell it loud enough.

Ridiculous

Ok, so it was a bad score. I think you could of given us 8 more plays and we weren't scoring a touchdown. Haha.

Let's not forget the Seattle TD... all this technology and yet they couldn't see the still picture that showed the player's but on the ground prior to the ball touching the goalline... they probably score on the next play but it would be nice to make them earn it.

Yes I agree... I mentioned somewhere that I saw this happen before... Joe Gibbs did it and lost a game because the penalty was called....
These days, who knows what's a catch, a fumble, an incomplete pass, a hold, a block?.. The NFL is a $9 billion industry and yet these
refs are killing the season for many fans....referees should be full time best of the best quality employees of the league.

Yeah you're right. What's the official story on that. I think for every "apology" that the nfl refs give out then that should be a game check or deduction of pay for the refs. One apology equals 10% of your pay. I bet things would get cleaned up a lot quicker and there would be a lot less "apologies" from the league office if the refs knew that there was some other financial form of accountability for mistakes.

If a player can get fined for a late hit, roughing the passer, unnecessary roughness then the refs should get docked for truly, obvious mistakes. If Hardy gets mad at takes a shot at Wilson's knees then the NFL fines Hardy for possibly ruining a man's career. If the refs miss obvious calls at crucial points in the game then a coach (hopefully Garret) can get fired. Doesn't getting fired possibly ruin a coaching career. I feel that complete hypocrisy on the NFL's part.

Mike Perrira (sic) claims that this is only a penalty if it's done to freeze the kicker. The man has forgotten more about football than I'll ever know, but that seems...odd.

How long until a team like the Patriots then practice this 12th man maneuver with the intent of freezing the kicker, but with built in plausible deniability that cannot be proven......much like a pick play that with plausible deniability can always be said to be just 2 receivers whose routes happen to come close together.

Yes it sucked and they blew it dead erroneously. To those saying it still should have been a penalty for unsportsmanlike conduct, sorry but as currently written it's not. The rule says if he's attempting to freeze the kicker it's a penalty. He wasn't and its pretty clear he wasn't, but thats leaving it up to the referee's to judge what the coach is thinking instead of dealing in certainties.

The problem is once again in the rule itself. That is entirely a subjective rule and requires judgment of circumstances that the referee's clearly can not know for certain one way or another. Does a coach run up to a referee and say I want to freeze a kicker? That is the only time a referee can conclude with certainty that was the intention.

For instance how did the referee's know for a fact he wasn't trying to freeze the kicker and not just assume he wasn't? Are they going to ask the coach? Is a coach going to willingly admit this to get a penalty? Whats to stop a coach from running up to attempt to get a 2nd TO yelling at the referee's that he wants to change the play, but really only wants to freeze the kicker in the future? Might as well try it if there's no penalties.

The rule is complete crap. There should be no freeze the kicker section even involved. If you try to take back to back TO's it should be an automatic 15 yard unsportsmanlike conduct penalty and I thought thats exactly how it was written. Apparently that's too damn hard for the league to understand.

Man. Thinking back we really got screwed by the refs this game. I don't think it's a conspiracy and I'm not saying we would have won if the calls went our way, but...

1. Gave them a TD that clearly wasn't-- though it was close.
2. 12 man/2 timeout snafu.
3. Missed pick play to keep the GWD alive.

Hell they even tried to give Seattle that fumble return TD that so obviously was an incomplete pass.

Sucks. In a close game it made a difference. We should have just scored a TD or two and it would just be a bad call.

Yes, the play was a momentum killer but at the same time we'd likely have ended up settling for a FG four plays later anyways.

How about the Wilson to Wilson "TD" that should have been down on the 1 or 2 yard line instead?

Dont forget let the clock run twice inside of 5 minutes when the SEA runner went out of bounds

I just want to know when the refs are gonna be held accountable for their "mistakes", and fined by the league, like the players are. Accident or blatant, the players are fined. Why aren't the officials??

Exactly what was Garrett supposed to do?

What exactly does Garrett do? What are his strategic strengths? What exactly does he do to make the team execute better than their talent, or does he?

Please be specific as many criticisms of him are.

He is a walkaround HC who still has major issues with game mgmt

Here is @clarencehilljr Pool Report after the game from Referee Carl Cheffers. Sorry about the size.

As Bill Parcells would say about Dean Blandino, "now that's a little bit of his work, right there". That dufus is in charge of the officiating in the league, after all. The officiating is a JOKE these days.
