You may be right about his YAC ability (haven't seen enough of him yet myself) but dropping catchable passes was the knock on him in college, he has yet to disappoint as a WR with the Cowboys. Ogletree was pretty impressive during TC and preseason, his strengths were his hands, route running, ability to seperate and making big plays. The only time he started (last game in preseason) he was the star on offense and looked good w/both Romo and Kitna.

He does need to get stronger and perhaps showcase that 4.3 speed on offense. Although he has a better average returning kicks than Felix, so his speed is translating on ST at least.

His best game he had 3 whopping catches for 37 yards, or maybe you're thinking of the 2 catches for 36 yards or the 2 catches for 14 yards that he had in the last preseason game.

Why are so many people high on this guy?

If you're right in that evaluation, then "top gear" is utterly irrelevant on a football field...

incorrect sir!!! any sport that deals with an athlete running top gear is relevant as they come. In football it is totally revelant cause having top gear is what separates the men from the boys. My argument deals with the legitimacy of the 40 as the true test of an athletes speed which I think it doesnt. I provided an example of when most humans reach top speed and since the football field is longer than 40yds a top gear is pretty relevant to reaching pay dirt my kind sir

You're joking right!!!??? those numbers you posted are pretty solid considering how the players arent usually playing that long in a preseason game. Instead of judging him by those numbers which you find arent to your liking you should of been watching his progress as a rookie WR in the pro game instead. If you had been doing that you would of saw a quick footed athleted with good speed, great hands, and exceptional route running which both QBs complimented on as well as most the CBs on our team. You ask the question of why so many are high on the guy its because he's a young WR on our team with a lot of potential and promise. This isnt the same instance of potential with all the developmental WRs we alway get off free agency. Had ogletree had a QB that was worth a crap in college he would prob be a 2nd round pick so sir thats where the excitment comes for him.

I know Ogletree and Romo killed it on their endzone fade the first time and MartyB and Romo haven't really been close in those attempts.
It's not just the quickness, the route running and hands, the kid fights for the ball and wins. Just like Austin has done lately.

Because there are dozens of plays every game where an offensive skill player sprints 60 yards downfield...

I like the 20... but old school scouts still love the 40! my theory, if my guy beats you in the 20, even if your guy catches him in the 40... Ill take 40 yrds every time!
