Ogletree looks like a natural. He reminds me a little bit of Chad Johnson. (No I don't think he is a whack job.) He gets in and out of his cuts, has great hands and body control. I enjoy watching him play better than any rookie receiver since I can't remember. Great pickup.
Thats actually a good comparison. The really great news is this guy looks like this as a rookie, imagine what he could be in a year from now when he gets a little experiance.

he also was pretty open for a TD but the protection broke down and romo had to rush the throw.

Did he catch any balls? How many? For how much yardage?

He had 2 catches for 36yds. I completion that was 16yds and another that was 21yds. Pretty good game especially playing against a 1st team D

For those of us who didn't see the game, what did Ogletree do?

Reading the stats sheet, 2 receptions, a 23 yarder and a 15 yarder, and a 35 yard kickoff return... reading other posts, he was also open for a possible TD on the play where Romo was intercepted (but I also read that Romo was under some serious pressure on that play)...

Not bad for a rookie, I'd say... but you're startin' to sound like you have a problem with the kid; might I inquire why that might be??

Or am I misreading your questions here??

So far this preseason, Ogletree has 5 receptions for 73 yards (14.6 average) with 1 TD... included in these 5 are a 23 yarder and the 21 yarder for a score... he also has 5 kickoff returns for 140 yards (28.0 average), including a 35 yarder and a 39 yarder...

This is why some in here are getting a little excited about him... in my case, I'm also a Virginia Cavaliers fan, so I've been pulling for him since he was signed...

for what its worth during post game interviews with Romo,
Romo seemed very impressed with Ogletree and even made
a comment that as he continues to work he will get even better.

Its no doubt the kid has cemented his spot on the roster. He looked really good running his routes today and had some great catches in the game. Another great thing was that Romo was really looking for him during the plays which says two things IMO that Ogletree has earned the trust of romo by his great camp of catching the ball and knowing his routes and that because he is running such great routes he was getting open quit a bit against a teams starting defense unit. You can tell that Romo is really fond of Ogletree I liked seeing Romo take the time to discuss the routes and plays with him on the sideline during the game. Hopefully we found ourselves a gem here that can hopefully only get better

He looks like the best receiver out there. The guy is making a believer and a fan out of me. I'm a sucker for the underdog type players and he is definitely a baller.

His stats don't even begin to explain how he looked out there. On another play, Romo made a bad throw. Otherwise he would have had a much better game tonight.

He runs routes as well as any receiver the Cowboys have had in a long time. I think Ogletree will be a Dallas Cowboy for some time to come. He should be good in the slot and I'm expecting him to make a push for the #2 spot.

What I saw tonight was an undrafted FA with the talent of a top pick.

Go Boys!

he also would have had a 15 yard catch on an out that was run great but either romo exspected him to run it deeper or the ball sailed on him...to me it looked like it sailed.

romo was also coaching him up on the sideline...something he wouldnt was his time with if he wasnt gonna be around next week. just sayin

If we are doing comparisons than he reminds me of Joe Horn with a hint of Isaac Bruce.

Also had a nice kick return at the end of the half...

Not as the primary returner though.

Just seems like the 9ers wanted to kick it to someone really fat and slow and it ended up in a fast guys hands.

I think Ogletree is quicker than he is fast, but he's VERY quick (see the move he made to get open in the end zone against Tennessee). He may not "play as fast" as you'd expect a 4.3 guy to play (his official time was 4.46 or so), but his field speed is still above average, IMO. I'm betting we'll be seeing Tree making a few catches well behind the opposing secondary this season and more in the future.

As far as productivity goes, he is the only Virginia Cavalier to post two career 50 catch seasons, and he did this despite the team's miserable quarterback play. He caught 58 balls in '08 for 723 yards and five TDs. That's five touchdowns out of the *nine* total thrown by UVA passers last year.

I bet it makes you sick knowing you had a player this good and nobody to get the ball to him.

You bet, but there's a lot about Virginia football that makes me a little bit sick right now. The truly frustrating thing is seeing the number of quality NFL players that leave Virginia and the year-in/year-out nada that Groh produces with that talent.

At least this one worked out for your Pro team.

This guy is a legit talent.

His style of play is also exactly what this team needs too.

Yeah, I'm pretty stoked. It's definitely a consolation.

And don't forget John Philips. :)

Tell me about John Philips?

What type of player is he?
