I hope we come away with 1 of these Tight Ends in this upcoming draft.

We'll most likely have to use a 1st or 2nd round pick to get it done but I think it's worth it for our offense.

I want a CB or DE in the draft but i'd rather have a legit TE or Offensive Tackle over a ho hum corner or DE.

Witten isn't getting replaced next year and the 2nd TE needs to be a better blocker than pass catcher. I agree that a young athletic TE to exploit the deep middle of the field would be nice, but the reality of the situation is that it would still be a waste of a high pick until Witten is gone. We've learned that with how many picks now? I think we are better off waiting at least 1 more year before we worry about investing such a high pick on WItten's replacement.

I think there a quite a few guys that we could take a chance on latter anyway. Sprinkle from Arkansas, Hikutini from Louisville, Everett from S Alabama, and Swoopes from Texas makes a really interesting conversion project.

I doubt we do, simply because of how deep this draft is at DE, I really think an end will be worth the pick at #28-32. Maybe in round 2 like you said, but I doubt in round 1.

I'm willing to roll with Witten, Swain, Gathers and a 4th or a 5th round TE next season. It's a deep TE draft so I think we can wait till day three and should make a real effort to address the defense (or wr) the first 2 days.

Spending such a valuable resource on a TE would be a massive mistake. You'd think we'd have learned our lesson from Fasano, Martellus, and Escobar.

Witten still has a few years left.

O.J. Howard is likely going Top 15.

Leggett seems to be a 2nd rounder to me and more of a one-dimensional type.

I like the idea of finding Witten's replacement because we can get more out of the position. That said, I think the Boys will wanna see how this plays out with Rico Gathers and the incumbents.

Dak targets the middle of the field a lot. That's where he likes to go with the football.

Our 2 main targets are Witten and Beasley.. If we lose 1 of those guys then who is going to fill that role? Nobody on this current roster.

O. J. Howard is going to be the first off the board. He has just about everything anyone wants these days. Plus since he played at Bama he plays against top competition every day in practice. He can also block. I think once he fills out he will be the same size as Wit with a bit more speed. All the above said, we won't draft him because we have bigger needs on the defense. That is unless Wit retired after we win the Super Bowl.

If the Cowboys were to win the SB, then Witten may just retire. But, I think he would likely come back for one more year.

A team should take need into consideration while drafting, but it should be for need two or more years from now. Don't draft for immediate needs because you will reach for players. And, does anyone really know what you need? A team could see a large number of injuries at a certain position in camp which no one can foresee. Just draft BPA and let the players compete for the playing time.

IMO, the worst thing to do is wait and go into a draft with a vacuum at a position. TE plays a major role in this offense and it's not ideal to draft a guy and say "Here. Replace our HOFer." I really don't see Witten playing another two years; he shouldn't at least.

As long as Jake Butt's knee exam at the combine doesn't show any issue with his meniscus in his knee, I would have no problem with him being selected in, say, the third round. With the surgical techniques and rehab science improving, he could be off of PUP and ready to play by the 7th game without an issue.

Howard is a very good blocker, but I think he will be a 1st round pick

I think Howard right now is a very good candidate to be our first pick, just because he is top 15 talent and could potentially last to the bottom of the 1st. Value and need wise the pick would match up nicely. And as a very good blocker, Howard would see plenty time on the field here

Dont be so sure about the we wont draft him part. IMO if he lasts to our pick, he would likely be the top value and be the most likely pick
