OK, despite his age, why not Ron Dayne?

The link says Dayne will become expendable in Houston after the Texans signed RB Chris Brown and now the new guy is to be a tandem with Ahman Green

So, why not, when Dayne is released, invite him to work out?

Dayne has a lifetime 3.8-yard average and last year it was 4.0

Great size, protects the ball. Won't command much money, relatively speaking.

Jerra, if you are peeking into the Zone, go git him as soon as Dayne is released. Couldn't hurt to have a look-see.

(BTW: Dayne is a Badger I wonder if someone will respond, "Badger! We don need no stinkin' badger!")

it would be nice to have a back who could break a few next year.

I'll tell you "why not": He plays small in big games. He did this in college and it's why he hasn't done that well in the Pros. No thanks...

We dont need a 265lbs. Marion Barber with no speed and a knack for going down from the first hit.

Other than that he could be useful?

just a thought, but why not spend a draft pick on any of the 10-15 backs that are easily better than he is and not a threat to eat themselves out of the league on their next trip to the buffet?

That's completely true and funny!

I'd be okay with him as a third RB paid minimum salary, but frankly I'm fairly sure we can get someone better (and probably cheaper) in the fourth or fifth round of the draft.

His age is not the biggest problem. It is everything else about him.

Didn't we just get rid of a guy who ran into piles?

Can somebody give me the stat count on the percentage of current free agents this board has managed to somehow find a spot for on the Dallas roster?

I'm guessing 98% of them...even counting Brett Favre who hasn't filed retirement papers yet, but would amazingly ride the bench to groom a young a QB here over taking a starting job with his own team.
