I agree with you. On an NFL Network segment I saw him standing next to Deion and another former player who was a reciever and he looked positively small. Granted, ex-players gain weight. But even taking that into account, I jsut don't know how effective he will be as his game is not based on speed on extraordinary quicks. NFL corners are trending towards good size + exceptional quicks, and speed is pretty much a given.

He's got good hands, but unless he has that undefinable quality very few guys have of being able somehow create that separation with exceptional guile, I really don't see the kind of impact so many anticipate.

My top five busts:

1. Brian Orakpo
2. BJ Raji
3. Brian Cushing
4. Darrius Heyward-Bey
5. Knoshown Moreno

I think Raji is high risk. Heyward-Bey has no body of work so he's high risk. I think Moreno is one of those RBs who have to get injured to fail. Not sure he'll be a superstar but I think he'll do ok at least.

Freeman is going to be a bust.

And if he's drafted in the first round it's only because the QB class is really weak this year.

Dude, that may be true of some of these guys... I'm no expert. But Orakpo is not a "workout warrior." That doesn't mean he can't be a bust in the NFL (although I tend to think he'll be very good)... but workout warriors don't have great stats. Orakpo had 11.5 sacks in an incomplete season last year. I semi-follow Longhorn football, so I was at a game of theirs last year and I didn't know who he was, but I specifically noticed that he created havoc in the backfield every play. It was so dramatic that I told my wife to just watch him every play on defense because he's fun to watch. Is he DeMarcus Ware? Almost certainly not. But he's not a "workout warrior." And he might turn out to be pretty dang good in the NFL.

Edit: woops, didn't quote the message. Refering to #19 by Slatemosphere.

Those guys are workout warriors and Vernon Gholstons and Davis's.

If Orakpo goes to a team who tries to convert him into an OLB he's going to be a bust, just like Gholston.

If Maybin can keep his GOB speed after bulking up a bit he will be ok.

Hayward-Bey. He could be another Chad Jackson for sure.

Maybin will be a star....watched him play several times last year and he is very quick off the ball. wouldn't call him Ware quick but pretty dang quick

I'll drop a bombshell. This guy just turns me the wrong way and the comparisons to Joe Flacco are unwarranted. He has Joey Harrington written all over him. Matthew Stafford will be a bust (the fact that he'll be on the worst team in football has nothing to do with it  ).

Andre Smith already has a huge bust... about a D cup... :D

Actually, I wonder typically what percentage of 1st round draft picks end up being a bust/considered a bust?

Around half?

I'd say it's a pretty high percentage.

I think Crabtree will do well. ESPN had a good article about him recently and scouts were talking about how incredible his balance is, and his technique for shielding defenders is outstanding. Aikman used to say that Irvin "made himself big" when the ball was approaching. That's Crabtree, too.

His speed is adequate, size is better than average, but he has some very subtle physical qualities that make him special. That, along with his great hands and attitude make him a safe pick, IMO.

It'll be interesting to see what he does without 4 other receivers on the field.
