Well after seeing Ware covering Randy Moss on the first down of Sundays game I'm officially joining the FIRE ZIMMER club. Please welcome this young man with open arms even though it took him so long to see the light.

THe defense is pretty bad.

we need our best corner on their best WR no matter what.

I'm not joining the club just yet, but if I keep seing play calling mistakes by week 8 then we'll talk about the "Fire Zimmer club" lol.

Yeah it took me almost a year and a half to really hop on board also. I thought I'd give Zimmer the benefit of the doubt with a new head coach and trying to learn what Parcells likes to do, but after seeing the defensive blunders continuously I'm tired of it.

You know, the sight of Ware lined up in pass coverage really blows my mind too.

The guys game is SPEED, RUSHING THE PASSER. What a waste. :bang2:

I never in my life saw Charles Haley cover Jerry Rice in a game. :laugh2:

Still, after that first drive our pass defense hung in there. What is most inexcusable was allowing an average back to rip us for the second game in a row. Right up the freaking gut! We needed the 4-3 last Sunday, but they stubbornly stuck with the 3-4 most of the time.

I'll admit, I missed the game.. but are you sure Ware was covering Moss? Lining up a linebacker on a receiver to jam him at the line isn't all that uncommon. Maybe that's what you were seeing instead?

That's Wares responsibility on the play...They are learning a new defense and they need to be able to handle whats handed to them.

You want Randy Moss to go deep untouched? You have no point whatsoever here.

I don't think Ware was "covering" Moss...just knocking him off his route...

But that said, I'd like to expand the Zimmer club to the coach who retained him and talked him into staying, with a hefty raise, when he was going to leave...

Ware on Moss was sooooo stupid, therefore, could it just of been a bad defensive call by Dat? I refuse to believe our defensive coaches are that stupid!

I remember reading somewhere, that BP would be overseeing the defense this year and approve everything before game day........so doesn't BP have to share some of the blame with Zim?

In BP bizarro world this just means that the system is more important than the players.

The athletic DE from the small school program is supposed to be able to chip Moss and throw his route off---its alot like the wisdom of benching one of the two best DTs in order to play Bradie James or Scott Shanle. It's obviously the players fault.

Im joining the fire Zimmer club too... after losing to the Commanders because of Zimmer coverage of blitzing on a fourth down play and we should have been playing prevent, on a fourth down play against San Deigo we blitz instead of just simply playing coverage, and against the Raiders we get beat deep and a whole lot of mis calls... Im with firing Zimmer...

Ware lined up to jam Moss on multiple plays. Unfortunately he and the rest of the defense failed in their execution on that one early play. I didn't see Moss get multiple 79 yard plays in the game, but I saw the same defensive scheme used multiple times. I guess they executed correctly the rest of the game for that formation.

Exactly.

I'm not even going to waste my time explaining what we were trying to do in that defensive formation... But the majority of you "gentlemen" that are posting in this thread need to read the book "Understanding Defenses For Dummies".

Maybe they'd understand it better if Ware had actually jammed Moss instead of brushing up against him as he ran by.
