I wouldn't call Ekubust a "Stud", but bringing him up does help prove my point. He goes to CLEVELAND (of all places) and puts up career numbers eventhough he didn't start the first 2 games.

Honestly...no he's not a stud, but he's much better then he played here under the "occupy and engage" philosophy...

Well after seeing Ware covering Randy Moss on the first down of Sundays game I'm officially joining the FIRE ZIMMER club. Please welcome this young man with open arms even though it took him so long to see the light.
Did Zimmer ask to go to the 3-4? No. If Ware is anywhere near as good as Parcells would have us believe then damnit, he ought to be able to bump Randy Moss at the line. Parcells picked this guy to play outside in the 3-4, Ware's got to do his job. If your going to blame this on anyone, Blame Parcells and blame Ware.

btw: I hate taking up for Zimmer

Personally I think we should go to a 3-3-5 and let Roy hang around the line of scrimmage when the other teams go 3-wide.

Did the above scheme come at of that book "Understanding Defenses For Dummies" you mentioned in a prior thread?

Ok I understand that Ware was suppossed to bump Moss, but still was Gabriel so much of a threat that Newman or Thomas had to cover him? I just dont understand this defensive philosophy in the big D. I see us with all this great talent and some really good players, yet we still sit in NFL mediocrity. You put this exact defense in Baltimore and I garuntee they are top 5 defense in league. That is all.

We should have stuck with our nickel package. Or something like a 3-3-5 alignment. Have Roy play a linebacker spot.

Honestly, I think how they're using Ware is pretty stupid. First they had him bump Moss. Then have him quickly move back into zone coverage with no reciever in his vacinity. Now why are we playing Ware to bump recievers and drop back? We should be blitzing him and moving him around the LOS to throw off the blocking scheme of the other team.

Zimmer is a lost cause. He doesn't learn from his mistakes. These are mistakes that had happened last year and the year before that. However, he still thinks that it will correct themselves so long the players keep working his scheme.

Didn't the players keep working that scheme and make it work the rest of the game? I didn't see Moss catch 5 more 79 yard passes.

Ware isn't good enough to move around the LOS at this time. He is still learning his position. He isn't exactly dominating when he rushes one on one with the OT and that will be one of the primary things he will need to do. He is just a rookie. He is learning.

That's true. And the folks on this board have to realize that when teams go to a 3-wide set that it is perfectly normal to have an OLB move out with the slot receiver. This is standard stuff that every 3-4 defense does.
