With the Pats coming up on their 4th SB win in the decade it made me think of that accomplishment (winning 4 in a decade)

1970's (74-79) - Steelers win 4 SB's
1980's (81-89) - 49ers win 4 SB's
1990's (92-95) - Cowboys win 3 SB's (Jerry/Jimmy cheat us out of it)
2000's (2001- ?) - Pats win 3 and counting.

Packers owned the 60's with 5 total.

Yeah. 4 straight would have put us at the top of all of this discussion about best teams ever.

Now we seem to be at the end of the list... an oh yeah what about them?... all because of a bad first quarter against the 49ers.

4 straight would've been highly possible and maybe 5. In any case, I think we would've had more than 3 and been in contention for several more years past '95.

They're not starting up anything... 'cause they're going to lose.

1.

The Patriots cheated and won 3 of those Super Bowls by a combined less then 3 points...

2.

Bill Walsh pretty much stated that the reason they implemented free agency is because they saw Dallas winning a string of Super Bowls...

Number 2 essentially means the NFL took measures to prevent Dallas from dominating the 90s.... It wasn't simply about JJ leaving the organization...

Don't ever ever forget " the 49ers and Broncos both circuimvented the cap" !!!! Why o why does this not get mentioned as the worst cheating scandal in all of nfl football history. That's at least 3 total superbowls between the two that I know of for sure. Not sure if 49ers cheated in more than the last two seasons of last superbowl, I forgot. This is way more egregious than videogate.

Patriots are going to tie us up quickly if we dont do anything about it.

Their division is absolutely a joke. They will have plenty of shots at more Superbowls for years to come.

I give the Whiners the biggest *Asterisk* of them all.

Because, during their "run of greatness", they played in an NFC West consisting of the Rams, the Saints and the Falcons............all of whom, collectively, coincidentally during that 'Niner run, had a winning percentage of perhaps .300; All three of them, for a LONG, LONG time, averaged maybe 3-4 wins a year.
There's a lot to be said about momentum not only during a game, but as a season goes on. I remember in one of those 'Niner years, that the 'niners played their division the first eight games of the season (after the expansion Panthers also joined the NFC Lest). I'll never forget my eyes popping out when I saw the schedule that summer!! Right then and there, I remember thinking "CONSPIRACY"!! Sure 'nuff, they went into the second half of the season 8-0! That's why they were seeded so well in the playoffs alot. Because in their own division, it was an automatic 8 wins for like a decade.
Every year during the rivalry between Dallas and the Whiners, I'd look at the schedules of each and be amazed at how easy the Whiners had it, EVERY YEAR!!! Meantime, we'd get the Packers every year, the Whiners themselves, and a host of other playoff teams to get through. NOT TO MENTION what was the "Baddest" division in football, the NFC East. The Division with the MOST Super Bowl wins and MOST Super Bowl appearances as well.

I'll NEVER give the Whiners half the credit that most folks do. NEVER!!! I don't think "the catch" was anything special (except for WHO it happened against), I don't think that the "west coast offense" was "genius", I don't think that Montana was the "greatest ever", and neither was Rice.
What I DO KNOW is that their owner was the ONLY owner EVER to be stripped of his team for being a mafioso convicted crime lord! THAT, I do know!!

Are you guys just giving this game to the Pats? You don't think the Giants have any chance at all?
I'd love to tell you that I think the Gints will win...well...not really. I think the Gints will play hard, but in the end they don't have enough to overcome the Pat's Offensive weapons.

I remember Bill Walsh saying something along those lines and tinking what crock of dung it was. I didn't know the mantra back then, but that was when I started to Embrace the Hate.
