I'd love to start a thread where we choose our All-Time team. I know it's been tried before, but I'd love to get some sort of general consensus on this. One of the difficult things about making a list like this is the fact that there are so many great players that have graced the star. Also, some of us have missed eras.....I came in during the early 80s. Some fans may have "discovered" the phenomenon that is the Dallas Cowboys during the 90s.

I'd also like to have our visiting Skins, Eagles, and Giants fans (if there are any) to come up with there own.

Then, we can see how they can matchup.....

It'd give us something to do for four days....

I'll try first...

QB: Aikman (tough call over Staubach....but Roger himself said that Troy was better than he)
RB: Emmitt (again, tough call over Dorsett)
FB: Walt Garrison
WR: Michael Irvin.....Drew Pearson...third WR would be Bob Hayes
TE: Doug Cosbie
LT: need some help here.....
LG: Larry Allen
C: Tom Rafferty
RG:
RT: Rayfield Wright

DE: Harvey Martin
DT: Randy White
DT: Bob Lilly (who else?)
DE: Too Tall Jones (tough call here...personal fave of mine)

LB: Chuck Howley
LB:
LB:

CB: Everson Walls
CB: Deion Sanders
S: Roy Williams
S: Cliff Harris

Lots of holes on this team. Hopefully, some others will have better ideas. I'm also interested in seeing opposing teams.

What makes me sad is that the consensus will probably create a team that has NO current Cowboys. The closest right now I think would be Jason Witten and Roy Williams. Witten may someday end up as the greatest Cowboy tight end, but he's not there yet. Williams may someday be considered better than Darren Woodson, but he's not as complete a player. Some of the other young'uns on the team now have potential, but can't possibly be considered yet.

who would coach this magical team?

Tom Landry of course. Most of the guys on MY team were selected for that very reason, to play under Landry rather than Jimmy. That's why I left Moose off even though he was one of my favorite players, he wasn't an all-around FB so he wouldn't fit in Landry's offense.

None of our current players has played long enough to be considered IMO but there are a few who might make it eventually like Roy, Witten, Ware, and others.

We haven't had any truly dominant LBs since the days of Howley and Jordan so this current crop could make a place there.

How well did Mike Ditka play for us?

He said he got into the best shape of his life, and played the best football of his career when he was with the Cowboys.

So, is this a vote for DITKA (best Norm impression)?

even though landry is a god and all he was too conservative and he hadn't won the big game for quite some time prior to his retirement

as much as it pains me to say it I wouldn't want him as the coach

you may all flog me now.

Let's say a hurricane and Ditka got into a fight. Who would win?

Gentlemen, gentlemen....what if the hurricane was named "Ditka"?
