...Ok, take this for what it's worth, but I heard something interesting this evening and thought I would share it with my fellow Cowboy fans here on Cowboys Zone. It's only a rumor at this point, but the information comes from someone who provided me outstanding inside information on the Saban to Bama story several weeks before that story hit the national media.
Anyway, this is what I heard...
On my way home from work this evening I was talking with a very good friend of mine who lives out of state. My friend is not a Cowboys fan, but he works in sports media and covers college football. My friend has a very good source who is in the agent business. We were talking about college football recruiting and I asked him about a very high profile high school player who lives in Lousiana. I asked him if he knew which college he would sign with on National Signing Day. He said USC, LSU and Bama were battling it out for the kid's signature, but that he just heard today from his friend in the agent business that Jerry Jones was in "serious negotiations" with Les Miles of LSU for the Cowboys' HC job. Keep in mind this information did not come from the agent who represents Les Miles, but from a close associate of an agent who represents SEVERAL HCs and players in the NFL and SEVERAL Div I HCs. Another interesting thing I heard is that Les Miles' agent is from Dallas. Hmm...
But, let me say again, this is only a rumor at this point, so I'm certainly not saying it's going to happen and if in time it is proven that there is nothing to it, then please don't shoot the messenger. But, if this coaching search drags on past the Super Bowl, this could be a rumor to keep an eye on. One thing that could influence or delay an official offer to a current college HC is that National Signing Day for high school football players is Wednesday, February 7.
