How sweet it is. After hours of breaking down film and ranking Hoyte as one of the top three ILB's in the draft, I'm a little giddy today after finding out Hoyte is still on the roster. I took quite a bit of ribbing from the fans of my team after he wasn't drafted and feel quite vindicated today. Some of you are much closer to the Cowboys than I am so do you think my boy will stick for good and should I keep my big trap shut for a while before I tell people to kiss where the sun doesn't shine?

Also, I know for a fact if Dallas tries to put him on their practice squad, he won't make it there. At least three teams are interested in him so hopefully he makes the final roster.

Props to you, man. The guy has been impressive so far. I like Fowler but figured he'd be gone cuz of how Hoyte has been playing. I guess BP liked Fowler too much to release him. Better for us. SHould help our special teams a bunch and solidify our ILB depth.

He played very well on Special Teams. That was probably the clincher.

Right now some feel (including me) that we may look to reduce our LB roster by 1. Maybe Fowler in a trade? Or maybe we pick up a NT (or some other position) and possibly Hoyte is on the PS.

Odds are that Hoyte is probably a keeper, though.

I wonder why we kept 9 LBs, so I think one of them could be on the trading block. I think that's because Hoyte flat out impressed the team. I liked Glymph, and I think he could end up on the PS. Hoyte won't.

That's quite interesting that at least 3 teams are interested in him.

I remember your post on Hoye several months ago. Very well done!

Glymph had one good preseason game that I saw and didn't do a whole lot to impress IMO. So if I were to bank on cutting a guy from the LB corp it'd be him.

Good to hear, thanks guys. Not only will I get to shove it in the faces of the stupid fans in this area but he's on my favorite team to boot. That makes it even sweeter for me. I said all along that the 3-4 was the place for him and I'm glad he ended up with a good coaching staff in Dallas. As soon as I found out he was here and not Minnesota (remember that big mess?) I knew he had a shot. Thanks for the quick replys.

Thanks my man. Yes, three teams are looking to pounce on him if he's placed on the practice squad and one is high up on the pecking order, so he would never clear waivers and get back to Dallas. That team may or may not be the Jets. That's all I can say about the matter.

Maybe we can trade them Fowler for Coles :D

Yes, that is part of my job after the season. I'm not a scout but I do get in-depth film that our scouts get and me and my co-workers look at over 300 draft prospects and give out our thoughts. When I watched Hoyte play I couldn't believe how active he was and how punishing a tackler he is. Oh wait, he doesn't run a 4.4 40-yard dash so he can't play in the NFL I guess. My response was always, how many inside and middle linebackers currently playing in the NFL do you think can crack a 4.8? Trotter? Bruschi? Hell, even Ray Lewis? I don't think so. Playing inside is all about instincts and toughness and that's two things I thought this kid brought to the table from Day 1. Screw me being right about him, I'm just glad someone gave him a chance to succeed and he took advantage of the opprtunity. I talked to him after the draft and I know he was extremely disappointed in how things turned out. I'm happy for him and I hope he sticks with the Cowboys.

It sounds like you know what you are talking about. So, how does Hoyte compare to Fowler? I noticed they are exactly the same size. Also, Fowler really knocked the crap out of somebody in the fourth quarter of the last game. It was one of the best tackles I've seen this preseason. But, honestly, I don't know much about either one of them.

I think they are similar players but Hoyte offers more upside in regards to the future. Meaning, Fowler is Fowler and Hoyte could be something more in a year or two after he gets more familar with the system. He's a very smart kid and I heard he was picking things up pretty quickly there. And from what some of you are telling me, he has done well on special teams as well and when you play for a coach like Parcells, that can be the deciding factor when it comes to your employment with the team.

Right on,,, while I can't imagine doing it "for fun", I also can't imagine getting PAID to do it! That would make all the difference!!! :worthy:

IMO Hoyte is the reason Boiman is gone.

Which speaks volumes considering they gave Boiman a $1M SB.

I liked Hoyte going in too, but I never remotely thought they would cut a more established guy like Rocky before him. Props to Hoyte, hope he fuflfills the potential.
