Hatcher is straight tearing it up!!!! It's a shame, but I don't think our salary cap situation will allow us to extend him.
you mean our cap situation that isnt bad at all...that one?
Sorry, no long term deal for a 31 year old DT
have we learned nothing from Rat and Spencer?
Give him a first round tender and let another team team pay him while we walk away with another rd 1 pick

Not for the right price. If you can get like a 3 year $12 mil deal (not that I think he'll go for that), you should absolutely do it. The guy is going to end up with like 10 sacks this year playing DT.I like hatch too but itd be dumb to resign him.
He's an unrestricted free agent, so those rules don't apply. He can sign with anyone and the NFL will award us with a compensatory pick if he goes elsewhere, given we won't likely be getting better players in FA ourselves.

I don't see that happening for a guy who will be 32 when next year starts, unless its only a one or two year deal.Good DTs command up to $10m/year. I wish Hatch could be had for $4m/year but I don't think it is possible if he continues on his pace of 12+ sacks this season -- that's rarified air for a DT.
There will be a discount due to his age, however, I can't see him getting less than a 3-4 year at $8-9m/year from somebody out there.
