Yea i'm actually not worried about re-signing him. Maybe i'm underestimating the market for a 32 year old DT but I expect a 2 year 10 million dollar deal or something along those lines.

It is not practical to throw 4/32+ at a guy who will turn 32 before training camp. And for a guy like this, there would little shot at a discount. I am hopeful we have learned our lesson(s) with thirty-something performers, though given our management's track record, it's likely I'm kidding myself.

On a positive note Hatcher is having a great season. But also on a positive note the Cowboys gave the Lions and the Broncos one heck of a game and were considered the games of the week.

Hatcher is straight tearing it up!!!! It's a shame, but I don't think our salary cap situation will allow us to extend him.

He has been very effective this year, and has played with great effort.

That being said, I don't think extending an interior lineman who will be 32 next year, and coming off of a career year, is the best way to do business. For the amount that he can get, they can't spread the money out well enough on a reasonable short term deal.

Ouch! I hate that we are everyone else's shining moment!

In all seriousness when was the last time we won a "game of the week" type match? Saints in 2009?

Good DTs command up to $10m/year. I wish Hatch could be had for $4m/year but I don't think it is possible if he continues on his pace of 12+ sacks this season -- that's rarified air for a DT.

There will be a discount due to his age, however, I can't see him getting less than a 3-4 year at $8-9m/year from somebody out there.

I agree. People think that just any DT can put up those numbers in Marinelli's D scheme. Ridiculous. HOF undertackle Warren Sapp only had TWO seasons with 12+ sacks for his entire career. Let that sink in before fretting about money that doesn't even belong to you.

Thanks for trying to squeeze some positivity onto this board. Hatch is beasting, no doubt. But still, be very leary of giving any kind of big money to player in his 30's coming off a contract year (unless he's a QB). He won't live up to it.

Let me him. We are already so stacked deep with talent on the DLine... Probably wont even notice that hes gone. Look at how much pressure the QBs that play Dallas have to deal with... Hatcher isnt a important player to this team at all.

I want to win too, but it's better than a 28- o butt whipping.

If we get rid of Hatcher, we might as well get rid of everyone thats commanding big bucks. We have so much dead money its not funny. Maybe next year would be a good year to clean house for an entire year and don't sign anyone. Clean up the dead money and in the following year start over. I don't know. Its just food for thought.

Spencer did us a favor by getting injured because I think we would have signed him long-term. Hatch, I love his leadership, but I wouldn't sign him long-term.
