On opening up the offense

I too was watching the game and wondering what was going on with our offense.

After the first TD and then watching our Defense play i was like, ok lets do it again. So what happened.

Well, one thing i saw was bledsoe make several bad throws in the second quarter, these are throws that would have definitely been picks if we were playing agianst better corners (like the eagles). You all saw the plays im talking about. And i started thinking, crap..stop throwing it so much, bledose is off and making bad decisions. And so playing in seattle, in the heavy rain maybe had something to do with it, i dont know, but seattle defense saw that bledsoe was off and after that it seemd like they had our number in the passing game. so in this game, im not sure opening things up would have led to better results, it seemed they had us there and so parcells pulled the reigns in cause bledsoe was almost getting picked when he threw it. And the play to end the game where he did get picked was similar to how their defense was playing us all game, just waiting for that chance to roll coverage under glenn and jump and pick that ball. they almost had ot a couple times in the forst half, then when we decided to go for it at the end it was like that safety was waiting all game for that play and jumped on it.

I will say i was disappointed with the 2 obvoius runs when we had 1st and goal inside the 10 after muffed punt. what is that rediculous fake reverse, that hasnt fooled anyone yet. trash that play. lets see more like the one where polite slid out in the flat after play action aginast the eagles. some misdirection or something.

and with 15 seconds left in regulation, not the time to try and make something happen, this team panicked. they should have maintained their cool and gone into overtime.

Still, for reasons i am not sure, the passing game was completely ineffective, and i dont think "opening the offense up" would have resulted in anything but more turnovers, its just the way this game was going.

Poor pass protection.

sure that was a big part. but couldnt we have run shorter routes, quick 3 step drops. maybe they played up tight with their dbacks betting their dline would prevent us from throwing mid to deep range passes

Yep, Bledsoe and the O-Line was poor today.

Everytime we tried to open it up or get aggressive something bad happened.

2 INT's
Sacks
Penalities
Drops
Almost INT's

When a coaching staff sees these things happening it makes it very hard to just say ok lets open it up.

It is up to the players to execute when we do so the coaches can say lets do it. Especially in a close game with your defense playing so well.

I am very concerned about the play of our Offensive Tackles right now, it could end up being a huge problem that defines our season. I am just praying they come alive for most of our games.

The good news is our offense scored 10 points in the rain.

We held Philly's offense to 3 points and it was a clear dry day.

From what I could see, the right side of the line was not good in pass protection today. I don't know if it was Rivera or Pettiti or the combination, but there were a lot of leakers on that side of the field. A-train had a couple of nice pickups on the left side.

Yeah Fisher stormed through Pettiti on a number of occasions. On one sack, Pettiti must have apologized to Drew for blowing the block because Drew put his arm around him and patted him as if to say, no worries, crap happens.

I don't see what the huge surprise is here. We all knew coming into the season that Bedsoe was a stud with protection and weapons. Without that, he's pretty mediocre, as is every other quarterback, by the way.

Well, this is yet more proof of that fact. When the O-Line struggles, the whole offense struggles. Take a look at the Raiders game especially. I know that isn't a glamorous reason, but it's the reason the team struggled just the same.

Bledsoe was off target all day long. Over threw some, threw behind some, and completely missed some.
