Any time a Steelers fan mentions that game being close, I just say, "Yeah but half of Dallas' team was stoned that whole week." lol

If I'm not mistaken, had the Niners beat the Packers, the Cowboys would have played at San Francisco. They had the better record or the tie breaker.

Dallas was 12-4. The Niners were 11-5.

What winward said. The Niners lost to the Falcons on the last game of the season and then we won the Jerry Maguire game in Arizona on MNF to clinch the 1 seed.

For me there was a greater sense of relief than happiness after that game. So much drama and off the field crap going on during that time. Add to the fact my brother is a Stealer fan and I was watching the game with him almost gave me a heart attack.

Don't get me wrong any SB win is great, but this had somewhat of a lackluster feel to it. If memory serves correctly the next year we were knocked out of the playoffs early by the expansion Panthers and since then things have been pretty much sme ole same ole. Its amazing after the last 19 years or being mediocre/below average how you get accustomed to it.

Yeah they had to give the Cards something to cheer about. I just remember we killed the Cards, there were a bunch of Cowboy fans and Emmitt broke the TD in a season record.

This season could've been something special for the first time in a long time. Oh well.

Pretty much. Since the Stealers stole the one from Seattle a few years ago he doesn't hesitate to hold up 6 fingers if needed. We gotta get SB 50.

Yeah that was fudgin BS!

Holmgren called out refs.
Refs admitted many mistakes.

What a mess!

So it went like this,

Cowboys had 2
Steelers had 4
Cowboys reacted 5
Stealers reached 5 then 6

SB 13 is the one that REALLY hurts. All these years later I still can't believe we didn't win.

ODonnell saw Dallas showing blitz, he signaled out to the WR that it was a hot read, WR took off and Neil threw the ball where he expected his WR would be. He took the heat but WR screw up

I never heard an explanation for that play. It happened TWICE, though.
I suspect that's what happened. But I appreciate O'Donnell not throwing his receiver(s) under the bus.

I understand. I guess my disappointment was more the fact we didn't blow them out. That's how the game started, but we got cold after a 14-3 lead. Thankfully, we had Neil O'Donnell as our quarterback. :D

13-0 lead; it's too bad Irvin committed pass interference on his TD catch, otherwise Dallas might have led 17-0.

I think a 17-0 lead would have been entirely different than 13-0.

I have told this story before on this board, but it is one of my favorites, so bear with me as I tell it again.

Background:
We live in stooler country and have to hear and see steeler crap ALL OF THE TIME!

Story:
When we had 2 SB wins and the steelers had 4 as Red mentions above, one of my buddies (who was a long time Cowboys fan too) made bets with any steeler fan that would take it that we would get to 5 SB wins before they did.

What a gutsy bet!

The rest is history, ... I love that story!
