If he performs like he did on Sunday all season and we were to somehow win a Super Bowl, I don't see how you couldn't put him in Tier 1. But right now, he's somewhere between Tier 2 and 3.

My honest response = Only time will tell.

I would love to speculate that he will have a Tom Brady type of career, but until we win the big game a FEW times we can only hope.

So far I love what I see and it sure beats going into each year wondering what we will do at QB.

Exactly how I feel. I already like him better than the busdrivers like pennington and Delhomme. I'd like to think he is a solid tier 2, but if he makes the probowl again, there is no question he is a tier 3. He still has a chance at tier 1, but that takes a whoooole lot of time.

There's no way Brees makes it to the HOF. For Palmer I think it's way to early to tell as well. I think McChunky has a better chance than either of those guys.

But to answer your question, I think Romo is on the cusp of establishing himself firmly in tier 3 and has the potential to make it to the second year if he can stay at this level consistently.

I don't think he's talented enough to be in the top tier, but with enough talent around him, he could duplicate the numbers of those guys. I think Peyton and Brady are guys who are team-changers regardless of the team they're on. I don't think Romo's in that stratosphere.

No doubt about it, though, Tony's a guy who can take you all the way when surrounded by the right pieces... you can't say that about every QB.

Seems to fit in tier 3 at the moment IMO. One ring will put him in tier 2 (not sure Carson or Drew belong there yet either tho) and a second would put him in tier 1.

McNair and McNabb have accomplished more than Drew Brees in their careers. Brees had a great year last year, but he has a ways to go to catch McNabb.

At the rate he is going he will easily make tier 2 with a foot ready to go for tier 1. He already has two games where he scored 5 TDs and hasn't played full 16 game season yet. Thats huge. This guy can fire the ball quickly and accurately. Top that off with the ability to run while doing it. He is starting to look like a Roger the Dodger starter kit.

Tier three is bottom of the barrel for what I beleive he possesses, and I'm not saying that with Cowboy bias. This kid has something. If the Cowboys keep the talent around him, he can make the HoF.

Hold on, how can you not put McNabb in the 2nd tier, don't make me play the race card...(just joking) :laugh2: I'll take him over Brees!

I cant say what Tier yet.... what I can say is... he had a stretch of bad games and adversity and never gave up... got a little careless... but never gave up.... he then cleared his had and had a shaky start in his first playoff game only to have us in position to win it...... lets see when it happens again... THAT, to me, will START to determine what Tier he is on... oh.... the range is currently 3-1 as far Tiers go... somewhere in there... needs to play more to be defined

2 with potential for 1.

Let's see you rank historical QB's using that system.

The flip side of that argument is if Romo picks apart a great defense is that a testament to how good he is or how overrated that defense he really was.

Last year when the 'boys beat Indy, it was lauded about how it was a good win...until they got beat by Tenn and Houston. So even tho they won the SB, Indy played really average in some games after they played the 'boys. They were very beatable.

I disagree. Nobody thought Brady was a big deal out of college. 6th rounder. No hype. No big contract. He was fortunate enough to land on a loaded team and yes, he has 'it'. Romo does, too. Unheralded guy out of college. He lands on the Cowboys...admittedly not as stacked as the Pats but I think he also has 'it'. Brady may be a slightly harder thrower but Romo has him beat in mobility. If we manage to win a SB with this team you can argue that Romo did an even BETTER job than Brady.

Which is why I think if you beat any team handily or hang 45 points on anyone it's reason to brag. All of the teams in the NFL are talented. The spread, in terms of talent from the top to bottom, is very thin. Usually the addition of one or two players can take a team from rags to riches.
