I never bought in to Parcels and Ireland player evaluations, ie he wanted Spears over Ware, passed on Steve Jackson for Jones ect. The one draft that has always haunted me was passing on Cromarti for Bobby Carpenter in the 1str then passing on McNeil, a solid LT to trade down and pick up a second TE Fasano who was traded to him in Miami a year later for a 4th rounder.
Think of the impact this year if Cromarti, Newman, and Jenkins were the starting CB's and FS in some configuration or simply Scandrick was the 4th CB. The seondary looks totally different and now you add a Huff to reasonable contract and a solid mid-round CB and cut the expensive Newman or resign him for less.
As far the OL goes, we could still taken Smith, you don't pass on a three contract OT, moved Free to guard, resign Koiser, and if Gurode decides to play have a very good OL. There are still some good guard candidates this morning plus Young and the others who may develop.
I know all teams can do this, hind siteis 20/20. But considering we could sent Choice to to SD last year and at least undone part this and didn't just scrapes off an old scab. Especially since Choice is probably gone under Garrett, who's judgement I tend to trust.
