It seems like a big problem for Jerry is the ever increasing fan apathy.
It is palpable on this forum, which is populated with once Die-hard fans such as myself.
Now there is a great sense of Whatever among the posters.
I think getting older may have something to do with it just realizing that it's just a football game and not worth over-prioritizing it above other parts of life.
A big part is just seeing the futility and or mediocrity we've been mired in for almost a quarter century.
It wears you down over time and causes you to get to a point where you're not as invested anymore.

Whatever fan apathy that’s present, I have no doubt in my mind that it is only synonymous with the fans that had the pleasure of rooting for the cowboys pre1996. For ones like me that came aboard during the Chan Gailey years, there’s no apathy. Y’all are spoiled because y’all saw Superbowl teams. Romo is the best cowboys QB I’ve witnessed. For the ones with apathy, he’s not even in your top3.

When people are posting here about apathy...they aren’t apathetic.

When people stop posting altogether...and stop watching games...then they are apathetic.

We could get apathetic. Sure aren’t now.

I think it might be more about the younger fan base. We have like two full generations now who have never seen a Cowboy Team win a Championship. Haven't even seen us play in a Conference Championship game. There was a thread on this a few days ago. Long story short, we have a younger fan base made up of people who have nothing to be invested in where the Cowboys are concerned. That is a problem for Jerry because a few more years of this and that's going to effect a lot of financial considerations IMO. At that point, Jerry will care a great deal, assuming he is still running things.

Going to a Cowboys game is more entertainment and event oriented than most of the other teams.

Aikman said it very well when asked if he thought Dallas was a good sports town. He replied "Dallas is a good winner's town".

For some, the pleasure is just watching their favorite team play. For others, they need more for a 3.5 hour investment.

Jerry is Yoda like with his ability to read Cowboys Nation.

He's got his fingers on the pulse and when it skips a beat, he leaps into action.

He knows the precise moment that he must take action and never hesitates.

We'll are be posting along praising and complaining as we do and then one day....BAM...

    He'll trade for Alex Smith.

And all will be right again in Dallas.

We also got to watch the spectacular *******ization of a once proud franchise into a league-wide punchline, all because of one man's ego. As great as it was to be on top, you can't imagine the disappointment at knowing what used to be. But in either case, American sports has become corporately controlled to the point of being generic and uninteresting. There are other outlets of excitement in the world.

Because we are life long fans and want this team to be successful. Cowboys fans are among the most loyal there diehard fans in the world. We need the freaking front office to do their part and bring in quality. It's human nature for complacent to settle in when you get decades of the same mediocre crap.

The luxury of being “america’s team” and selling out merch and seats is slowing fading...I’m actually surprised we still get as many prime time games as we get. Although, I have suspicions that a lot of NFL fans actually like to see the cowboys lose at this point and the team will draw regardless

Exactly why I don't go to games anymore unless someone else pays and I don't pay my own money for Cowboys merchandise.

Really I don;t wish ill things upon anyone, but take a look at photos of Jerry when he rolled into town and look at him now! He's aged, a lot!. He's going the route of ole Al Davis. His years are numbered now and that is if he keeps his mental faculties in tact. I say within 2-3 years he will step down, or be forced to step down via age or some health related issue. He's old as dirt and it's truly starting to show.

They tell the little people that having money comes with its own set of problems. What they don't tell you is that even those problems can usually be solved with money.

Jerry is far beyond having anything remotely close to what you'd consider a "problem" coming from NFL fans.

If you were a Patriots fan it wouldn’t take much mediocrity for them to become fed up.

Jerry has trained us that way for long that some fans just accept it. They’ll even accept keeping Garrett just to maintain mediocrity because of the belief that mediocrity is the best we can do under Jerry.

1 and done is our new Super Bowl.

He's almost as well off as the Maras and Rooneys.

I thought Garrett was as well but I can't remember the last time Jerrah looked that annoyed by 0-1.

He's far better off than the Rooneys. The Rooneys passed up on $400 million in PSL fees to keep the cost of PSLs low enough for the existing Three Rivers Stadium fans. They aren't the best at monetizing the Steelers' popularity. That's why they likely have little appreciation for Jerry and all he's done for other NFL owners' fortunes.

Agree and I wonder where that anger was directed? CAR wasn't borderline great and Cowboys could have won that game. Booger is a follow the ball the GM and he followed that one off target too much and watched his LB corps really play poorly. The best player on the field, besides the P, was the guy on a 1 year deal. I think he's put that one away and the real season starts Sunday night in his Big Top in prime time.
