One of the side benefits of drafting Elliot and Prescott

If Dak sees any substantial playing time before 2018, we will have a top pick in the draft to get a true QB. The kid has much work to do just to reach back up level in the NFL. Romo will have no fear of Dak every replacing him until Romo says he can.

That speaks of a whole lot of confidence in Romo. After his last outing, I can't say I share your confidence.

One of the things that I am most excited about due to drafting Elliot and Prescott is that preseason games will be even more interesting to watch and support during those games. While everyone has their favorite rookies and underdogs to watch, being able to watch players like Elliot and Prescott will make preseason games a little more enjoyable than usual.

yes but I dont know how much play time dak gets, I think they may want to look at moore early in games.
But he should play enough.
I hope all the drafted rookies get plenty of snaps, and not just late in games.

I dont think you will see a lot of elliot.

I'd make them roommates in training camp, they both would be the future like Romo and Witten.

Dak doing well in the preseason will put pressure on Romo to do well during the season. Romo may end up having done to him what he did to Drew Bledsoe.

I think I'd pump the breaks just a little bit on comparing Dak's potential to that of Tom Brady.

I just busted up laughing.

The scouting reports said...guy Dak is most like? Tim tebow "but a little more accurate".

He's not challenging a top NFL qb unless tony gets hit by a bus, and even then, doubtful

Stop right there. I said nothing about Dak being the next Tom Brady... or Romo or even Tim Tebow. I'm saying Romo didn't do so good on his last outing so don't expect him to finish the season... enter the back up.

Romo was an interception machine the last we saw him on the field, or did you already forget about that?

You think Romo stays healthy 16 games?

History is on the side of Romo staying healthy more so than not:

2010 - 6 games -Broke collar bone
2011 Played all 16 games
2012 played all 16 games
2013 Played 15 games
2014 Played 15 games
2015 - 4 games - Broke collar bone.

You can talk about his injury "history" all you want but the facts are he doesn't' miss games. Now could his collar bone be so weak it snaps if there is a good breeze, maybe, but I am going to bet on the guy that has shown to be tough and durable the vast majority of his career.

Darius Jackson & Rico Gathers as well..

With that SPARQ score Jackson may just jump over the whole defense on his way to a TD:D. Got near 100% similar to Byron Jones. Kids have the athleticism, no doubting that.

Don't forget about how he has turned into an interception machine. Between that and father time being against him... you keep betting on him, but use your own money.

Good thread. It will be a very interesting preseason if, knock on wood, we don't lose anybody before that. I can't even wait for the mini camp this week to see Ez-E in Cowboys colors.

I'll root like heck for Prescott with absolutely no faith whatsoever he's anything other than a fraud. People are trying to rally around him as a potential quality back up. I don't even see that. You want your backup to be able to run your offense for a short stretch when the starter goes down. With Dak, I think the offense would need to be changed and tailored to what he can do as he's not capable of running the entire offense. That doesn't usually bode well for a backup to come in and perform when needed in a pinch.

I can buy Connor Cook as a top backup or even Jacoby Brissett. I don't think Prescott has those kinds of skills. Hate the pick. Really hate the idea that his presence could make the decision makers think we're good at the position for the future.
