Dak doing well in the preseason will put pressure on Romo to do well during the season. Romo may end up having done to him what he did to Drew Bledsoe.

I love Dak like he were my own son, but this won't happen.

Thats sorta my point....... Romo played damn near perfect in '14
For us to expect a rook QB to step in & be all that........ Is placing a lot of pressure & expectations on the young Dak

So if Romo is still throwing interceptions, who replaces him?

Tony romo
If healthy he will be the QB as he should be and by the way his int/ td ratio is pretty good
If he gets injured them Dak will be watching the backup play
Dak needs to be developed and for this year and probably a couple more he will be watching and learning

So we used our fourth round draft pick to select a third string QB?

Yep. It's crazy to assume a 4th rnd QB is ready to start in the nfl. That's what destroys so many young qb's is seeking instant gratification rather than developing a player and then playing him. Dak wasn't picked to be the backup this year but the starter down the road. Time will tell if he can be the starter down the road but one thing is easy to see is he is not ready to start in the nfl

The Eagles drafted Wentz to be their likely 3rd stringer. Does that make you feel better?

We will see EE about as much as the rest of the first team guys IMO. Maybe a little more since he is a rookie. I doubt they want to subject him to much hitting until it actually counts.

Prescott on the other hand we should see a lot. Moore is what he is. A weak armed smart guy. He isn't suddenly changing what he can do. We will want to see a lot of Prescott.

If Romo reverts back to being an interception machine... someone has to replace him.

LOL, what? Romo could throw 35 interceptions in 2016 and no one will replace him. With Prescott and Moore on the bench, Romo might have the most secure job in the league. Even when Cassel was playing as horrible as one can imagine last year, Garrett kept trotting him out there like a lamb to the slaughter "because he gave us the best chance to win". So exactly what would make anyone think they would come to the conclusion that someone on our bench would give us a better chance to win than a 13 year veteran, 3rd best rated passer in NFL history?

Good thread. It will be a very interesting preseason if, knock on wood, we don't lose anybody before that. I can't even wait for the mini camp this week to see Ez-E in Cowboys colors.

I'll root like heck for Prescott with absolutely no faith whatsoever he's anything other than a fraud. People are trying to rally around him as a potential quality back up. I don't even see that. You want your backup to be able to run your offense for a short stretch when the starter goes down. With Dak, I think the offense would need to be changed and tailored to what he can do as he's not capable of running the entire offense. That doesn't usually bode well for a backup to come in and perform when needed in a pinch.

I can buy Connor Cook as a top backup or even Jacoby Brissett. I don't think Prescott has those kinds of skills. Hate the pick. Really hate the idea that his presence could make the decision makers think we're good at the position for the future.

What PROOF do you have that he isn't capable of running the entire offense?

That's not how I recall how the season went. Garrett didn't stick with his QB that played bad. I mean, he gave them a few games and then they were done. Do you not remember how many QB's we went though last year?
