Parcells has done many things that can be viewed as positive at the helm in Dallas. Yet one can easily point to 4 years of mediocrity as his calling card. I choose to point to something that stands out like a sore thumb.
When Parcells switched from a 4-3 to a 3-4 defense it would have been in his best interest to also switch the DC at the very same time. He should have gone out and retrieved a 3-4 mind that would have nurtured and taught this defense how to excel in a 3-4 set. Instead he kept Zimmer in place. The jury is out as to whether it was by choice or by the insistence of JJ.
Regardless, the prudent move would have been to swap DC's at the very same time you swap defensive sets. This rings even harder in my ears when considering the fact that Zimmer had never coached the 3-4 before. Decisions of this nature are the type that disallow this team to get over the proverbial hump.
I'll be right there with the next Boys fan rooting my team on tonight while also maintaining the belief that anything short of a Super Bowl run (IMO) should equate to a thorough cleansing of the house come next week. It is no given that Cowher will come back after one year and it wouldn't be smart to rest on our laurels waiting to see. Super Bowl or bust this year. Period.
