There have also been studies. The mood of the stadium can alter the outcome of the game being positive or negative. Keep studying

Isn't there a high school coach that never punts? I know I read it some where.

Did my running back just run the ball the last four plays . I wonder how many fourth down conversions We are made, compared to how many weren’t. Never mind the scenarios. And other implications.

So far this year, NFL games are averaging 2.0 fourth-down attempts per game, and offenses are successful on 62.5 percent of fourth-down attempts. In other words, NFL teams are getting a little more aggressive about going for it — and a lot better at picking up the first down when they do go for it.Nov 24, 2018. So last season if you went for it twice you have a little bit of both 50% of making it. With the game on the line I’m taking my chances punting the ball. Again how much clock time is left. So will simply say I’m doing it every time just doesn’t make sense

I think teams generally already are more aggressive in this area, but it’s a bit silly to say a punt is likely a touchback in that situation. If your special teams is that bad, you have a problem.

I think the Steelers prove your point. I don’t think anyone went for it more than they did. But I could be wrong. Cowboys had the worst special teams in the league last season. We only started one drive on the opponents side of the field

Unless your damaged hands somehow play a part in your football opinions I don't see the relevance, but thank you for your service and you can put the disabled card back in the deck.

I thought you were complaining about my pronunciations. I don’t have an issue if you don’t agree with my opinion. Even though I put a fact down to back it up

I totally disagree with the OP. There’s too many scenarios implications. Especially when most games and won by three points or less.

So every team except the Cowboys can just march down the field. Next with your example of 4th and 8 and if getting those 8 yards was such an automatic then why in the 1st 3 downs did they only get 2 yards? Next if the Cowboys don't convert which is easier for the other team, starting at say the 49 yard line or the 20 if there's a touch back or maybe the 10 or 5 if it's fair caught?

Lastly if the odds were in favor of always going for it like you say, actual NFL coaches would be doing it all the time but for the most part they do it late in a game and are behind and need either a field goal or TD to win. Yes every once in a while they do it at other times, but not very often. Bad idea.

This makes too much sense. You truly have him scratching his head. This is what I found on Google. This is what I found on Google. . But it doesn’t say how much time left in the game. Who is your opponent. So many scenarios.

I have bad news for you. Mike McCarthy is the king of punting from his opponent’s 35. Even did it down by 10 with 8 minutes left in the game.

Let’s hope that he has had a great awakening.

Go to youtube and search for coach who never punts and you may find that interesting.

    My take on this is
    1. you decide each week, if you want to do this, depending on team your playing.
    2. you decide when and where to go for it, and have 3-6 plays specifically for the 4th downs.
3.Never take a timeout, just line up and go, call one of the preselected plays based on the defense you see at the line.
    4. the team knows going in, this is what your going to do, and you will make some and miss some, but the idea is to make more than u dont.
    5. if you develop a significant lead, you stop going for them and punt or try fg.

One thing that bothers me is teams that call timeout, and then try to figure should they go, and what play to run lol
That is fool hardy, because it also gives defense time to think and adjust to it.

I would prefer to just line up and go already knowing what to do, and if defense calls a timeout, there goes one of their timeouts,
only 2 left. This could make a team use all 3 timeouts by just doing it 3 times. Then they are out.
