One thing I've enjoyed while watching the first two games...

..is that I no longer have to see the camera on Bill Parcells' mug 421 times per game.

Aside from the fact that I just didn't like him...I always thought it was a problem that in a game that is a player's game, the biggest personality we had was the coach.

Romo certainly challenged that status toward the end of last year...and Owens did, for all the wrong reasons.

It's just nice to have the focus on the players.

Wow.

My day wouldn't be complete without yet another why I hate Bill Parcells thread.

I liked him but it was time for him to step down, he made this team better, although results didn't bear that out.

It's not a "why I hate Bill Parcells" thread.

It's a "Why I like to watch the game more now" thread.

You're soooooo negative. :D

And I would feel the same way even if I liked the guy. It was no fault of his that his personality was bigger than that of the team. I just don't think it was a good thing.

I agree wholeheartedly, Juke. BP did some good things for us, but he was smothering the organization in many ways. On the NFLN broadcast today, they were saying that players on D were singing in the huddle as a show of solidarity. Bradie and Spears (Mdot is supposedly his nickname) were mentioned as leaders in all of this. Can you imagine guys trying to lead themselves if BP was still here? Granted, singing in the huddle might be a little corny, but if it makes the guys feel closer, I'm all for it. I like the camaraderie that has developed in BP's absence. That's not to knock The Tuna. I appreciate the good he did, but we needed a change. So far it has been fun to watch, but we'll see how things go when the games count.

Today, all I got to see was a multitude of shots of Broncos on the sidelines (in HD). :bang2:

I did see a lot of shots of Shanahan....who might be considered the "largest" personality on the Broncos. It is also interesting to note they showed a few shots of Wade Phillips....because he is a former Bronos coach!

I really didn't mean it as a Bash Parcells thread. It just seems so much more enjoyable to not have the camera ALWAYS on the coach...with the announcers comment on how Parcells was going to shoot players after the game...blah blah. If anything, it's a comment on how annoying the networks were.

That aside, I agree with everything you said. There is just a much better level of energy with the team. As we all know, a lot of games are decided by a TD or less...any edge, including more passion, is welcomed.

Shanahan is a good coach but a bore. And he needs to do something about his teeth. It looks like he's wearing a set of teeth over his teeth. :D

OK...

My day just wouldn't be complete without yet another 'why I like watching games more now than when Bill Parcells was here not just because I didn't like him but even if I did like him we had to look at him all the time and we should be more focused on the players though it's not Bill Parcell's fault' <gasp>.......thread.:pc: Phew!

I like watching games because we're not lining up in the same basic 3-4 without blitzing or stunting. Whether the new defense works or not, I had more fun watching one half of a preseason game of the new 3-4 than the entire '06 season.

Yep. Huge difference. And it's not like they aren't focused.

My gf started getting into the games and would always say "Why does our coach look so angry all the time?"

Other funny comments from her...She was so accustomed to seeing Bledsoe get sacked that one time when the other team had the ball, the QB took off running and she started yelling "He's not allowed to do that!!" because she assumed Bledsoe stood in the pocket like a statue because he wasn't allowed to run.

Also, after we lost a monday night game, late on the Moss TD pass in the Commander game...she called me and with a sense of anger asked "Is SOMEONE going to be PUNISHED for this!!??"

:)
