Only 2 TEs on roster...worry?2 TE set going away?

Only Fasano and Witten. I hope neither gets injured. Curtis was cut to make room for a guard. What does this say about the 2 TE base set? Since Bledsoe is gone now, with Romo, will the Cowboys be going 1 TE and 3 WR more now? Is there a change in offensive strategy? Did they run the two TE set much vs. TB?

I guess Polite is now the backup/emergency TE. I wonder if Hoyte can also play TE if needed. Al Johnson actually played some blocking TE in the Jax game if I remember correctly.

Only two TEs on the roster has me worried. I hope Curtis makes it back to the practice squad.

Well a lot of the time we use Fabini and stick him in at a TE spot. Thats why everyother play we hear '69 is an eligble' reciever'. The second TE is pretty much a blocking one.

And Fasano is used more as a wing back than anything.

I think this is most likely the result of how well Hoyte has been blocking as a fullback. They aren't using nearly as many 2 TE sets because BP now has a true lead blocker that can open holes.

As was said, Hoyte blocks better than either Witten or Fasano, and makes fewer mistakes...holding, false starts.

With Romo we don't need to protect, so bigger blockers aren't needed. Also with Tony, we spread the ball around so much better that more positive plays are going to come from Crayton...the #3 WR...than Fasano.

Since Romo took over we have gone 3 and 4 wide over half the time, and at times have even gone empty by moving Jones or Barber out wide as well.

From strictly a talent standpoint, 2 TEs isn't our best option.

i think hoyt has changed that as well as romo. with romo we can afford to have 3 wr's, with drew two te's made alot of sense.curtis was on the street when we re-signed him so i suspect if we need him you will be able to get him back.

We carried only two TEs earlier in the year and I didn't notice that it reduced the number of time we ran a 2-TE set.

We also have Polite in a pinch if anyone gets injured during the game.

the 2 TE was smoke up the fans azzz by Jones who had to defend is boy for taking a TE in round 2 after they just went out and signed a guy in free agency!!!

it took me back to the days of when Jerry said he drafted QUINCY in the 2cd round so they could sign him to a longer deal!

Jerry is a salesman and everything that comes out of his mouth is SPIN!!!

Well, there's that whole problem that we do run the 2-TE offensive as a base offense.

While I agree the post you were responding to was BS, I don't believe I'd call 2 TE our base anymore.

We spend a lot more time in the standard 2 back, 1 TE, 2 WR set and 1 back, 1 TE, 3 WR set than we do 2 TE. Fasano's snaps have greatly declined with the benching of Bledsoe and the discovery of Hoyte.

Yeah, that's true. I've been amazed at the amount of 3-WR sets we've been seeing lately (not to mention 4 and 5 receiver sets). We came out in 3 receiver sets on first downs several times against the Bucs and Colts.
