The way I see it there are several options that I will really like.

1. We trade Ellis for another player or a draft pick.

2. He is inactive for every game for the rest of his contract. (My personal favorite.)

3. He can retire.

4. He can honor his contract and contribute to this team.

I'll gladly take any one of those options. The only option I will hate is if he is released and gets his wish. I have a feeling Jerry will not do that. How he can think he deserves a restructured deal is beyond me. Talk about delusional.

Maybe there is a decent player out there who is recovering from injury that we can trade him for?

What blows me away with all this is...Ellis is just now, after all his contributions to the team, in a position to reap the benefits of a SuperBowl!

It could happen!

2.5 mill is not beans! And, to top if off? Maybe he could sport that precious SuperBowl Ring? That's the prize! That's what the game is all about for alot of players!

2.5 mil for the next few years while providing insurance, not ruining your body, helping the club that drafted you? What is he thinking? He's already a millionair!

I would rather sport a Dallas Cowboy SuperBowl ring rather then go to the Cardinals and make maybe one more mil...!

That would set the precedent from hell. He's going nowhere.

When his start is slow and in mid season he's finally rounding into good form, it will suddenly dawn on Ellis that all the Jerry tough love is doing him a favor.

Gimped DEs don't get big contracts. 2.5 million is more than most NFL players make.

David.

care to elaborate? because alot of people were just as fed up w/ Ellis' whining this time, last year

but you have to excuse people who are finally fed up of listening to the same crap for another year, it is really quite pathetic

Dear Jerry,

Why is Ellis still here?

I was a little PO'd at Greg last year but willing to give him a pass because i understand everyone wants more $ and he's been a good team guy. But coming off one of the most serious injuries any player can sustain and still acting the fool? Now that's some audacity. A lot of his fellow players are probably shaking thier heads at him.

Ellis can be traded, released, kidnapped, involuntarily retired, I could care less how it gets done, just get it done. 4 years ago when Parcells came to town, that was the time to move Ellis but "oh he's such a good guy and all".

We kept him and it's done nothing to make our team better. Out of all the teams in this league that employ a 4-3, someone could use his services. It's time to get on with it without Ellis.

Ellis hates the 3-4, and doesn't want to be here. Ellis needs to go to TO and get lessons on how to tick the organization and the world off enough to get rid of you, because he's not doing a good job of getting released.

Ellis' problem is he keeps whining to the media. I think he has an inherent security issue that causes him to whine to them as some sort of a clutch against failure. Failure to coming back from his recent injury is equatable to last year's possbility of not successfully converting to LB. Some people think this may be about "more" money - and it may be - but I think its more about just about maintaining the money he has as part of his contract. His $4.2 million dollar signing bonus guaranteed is paltry compared to what he can earn for his salary which isn't. He just doesn't want to be a victim of age.

That said, he's really not acting his age.
