OPI on Ferguson was a "fix is in" call

Let us also not ignore having the arm wrapped around Ferguson's waist as he gathered to jump for the ball. You think that kept Ferguson from achieving his full vertical?
Let us not forget how NFL Rules apply. The Arm wrapped (briefly) around Ferguson's waist was AFTER Ferguson's foul. Keeping Ferguson from "achieving his full vertical" is meaningless if prior to all that Ferguson committed a foul. I can't believe that has to be explained to a grown up.

Rather than blaming the Refs, go cry a river to Ferguson who started all, had Ferguson not grabbed the shoulder pad and sling the defender none of this discussion would exist. If anything it would've been DPI call, which only lives in your head for the reasons here explained.
Somewhere in the world on Thursday there was another fan crying in DET complaining about conspiracy for the refs for overturning the Safety.

Time to move on

Not predetermined, simply manipulated.

OK, I'm not seeing the connection in your last sentence. If someone believes the games are being rigged/manipulated, how are you claiming that those people would know in what way they are being rigged? That doesn't make sense.
I am just following the logic presented in this thread that posters said they could tell the Cowboys were going to lose because of the amount of money being betted on the Cowboys vs the Lions.

This was the actual post.........."Too much money was bet on the Cowboys.. so Vegas and all the online betting groups needed the Cowboys to lose."

You even had a mod respond......"Yep. I said the same thing all week."

So, these posters as well as a mod are saying they knew ahead of the game the Cowboys were going to lose due to the amount of online bets that were coming in. My point is simply that if you know ahead of the game who is going to win or lose as is being claimed in this thread, why the hell are those posters not in Vegas rolling in cash right now???

Off hand, most of them are not throwing huge amounts of money on sports.

However, I was not aware of the disparity in betting. Might have taken the Lions on a bet if I'd known, but I generally stay away from betting on or against Cowboys.

Could this have happened? Absolutely. It's been happening since the beginning of sports, no reason to believe it suddenly stopped.

I thought it was a S at first, but the replay clearly showed the ball was out of the end zone at first contact.
Same. I thought the earlier angle they showed was the down the line view, but turned out it was slightly off angle.

One I am not in Vegas.. Two.. I don't bet on anything.. I watch sports for entertainment not as a source of income. And three.. I actually did NOT know ahead of time about the shift in the betting until I heard about it during one of the pregame shows. Not enough time to catch a flight to Vegas or drive to a casino somewhere. I suspect most fans would fall into that category.

Just not a gambler frankly. The only time I ever bet on anything was in high school. There was a guy who would hustle people by racing them for their lunch money. I say it was a hustle because he didn't look at all like he was fast. He was a little pudgy and had a bigger waist than chest. But he could run. He hounded me for months to race him but as we were poor and I was on the free lunch program I never had any lunch money to bet. But one day he caught me in just the right mood and with a couple bucks in my pocket so I took him up on his challenge. Blasted him by a good 5 yards in a 50 yard dash. He never bothered me again. Thankfully I didn't catch the bug and never bet on anything again. Unless you count a visit to the blackjack tables in Tahoe once every 10 years or so. I even quit looking at those once the minimum hand went from 3 bucks to 10 bucks. Who the hell wants to lose 10 bucks a hand at blackjack! Geez!!!

lol...You're to smooth. I can relate.

If the betting was really that one-sided, than why were the Lions 3 pt favorites? Is this a fact of conjecture?

Just looked it up, betting was for Dall, but by 53-55%. Not 78% as was stated.

RULE 8 FORWARD PASS, BACKWARD PASS, FUMBLE
SECTION 5 PASS INTERFERENCE
ARTICLE 1.

.
.

Offensive pass interference rules apply
from the time the ball is snapped until the ball is touched.

Proof positive you don't know what the Hades you're talking about. If a receiver is allowed to sling a defender down by his jersey so long as it's near the line of scrimmage or before the ball is thrown, they'd all do it "to start their route," lol. You think you can get away with trying to conflate illegal contact rules which apply to defenders within 5 yards of the LOS and before the ball is thrown with OPI, which applies always? You need to get up earlier, bro. You started this whinefest and now can't even defend it properly. You never could. Just admit it was the histrionics we all know it was and call it a thread, lol.
The booth official stated it better than I ever could: "I see him just kinda swimming through, which is PERFECTLY LEGAL. See him swimmin through here and then gets grabbed. I don't see offensive pass interference AT ALL. " Ferguson did not grab the jersey. His fingers got caught in there as he executed his swim move. If you're a 250 pound man who can be thrown around by another guy's two fingers then you're playing the wrong sport. And at the very least the wrong position. It was a crappy call but I am not the least bit surprised you are here defending it. Way to stay true to your self. Protect the zebras at all costs.

Yeah a lot of late money came in on the Cowboys. I will not claim for one minute to understand all that gambling stuff but I do know that players, coaches and officials alike have been caught up in it. And now that the league has disrobed and jumped butt nekkid into bed with big gambling I have less trust in sporting outcomes than I ever did. I think it's all manipulated to an extent. I don't know what the end game is.. aside from making as much money as they possibly can.

I've simply believed for years now that they make calls to keep games close. Just way too much evidence pointing at just that.

Yeah at some point it may actually get bad enough that I stop watching. I mean it happened to me with boxing in the 90's. Some of the fights were so obviously fixed that I couldn't watch anymore. One assumes that after the Donaghy (sp?) deal the NBA cracked down on theirs but you still see some side-eye worthy calls in NBA games. MLB is probably the easiest of all sports to fix. All you have to do is get to the home plate ump or the pitcher and the outcome is putty in your hands. NFL football is really my last hope and was my first love.. It's going to be hard to leave her.. but if I see many more calls like that Saints-Rams no DPI despite the mugging I just might. The tuck rule game.. The 75 uncalled DPI's against the Patriots when they played the Rams in the Super Bowl. The way too rapidly disposed of "Spygate" tapes. Too much crap has gone on to blindly trust any of this anymore. I can still marvel at the athletic prowess of these men.. but it's really hard to get emotionally invested. Which frankly sucks....

Ronnie, you just got busted trying to lie and made up your own rules before I set you straight with the actual rules. Now, instead of addressing the video I put to you and others to show you how Ferguson did pull the defender out of the way via his jersey, which everyone knows IS a foul (backed up by the fact all 3 of y'all I presented it to didn't even want to comment on it and left the thread - before you returned after being embarrassed by your lie), you try to appeal to the authority of the broadcaster that got you emotional conspiracy posters activated in the first place. Remember, McAuley only commented after Kirk Herbstreet DID notice the jersey pull and I quote: "Oh, there, he grabs maybe with the left hand there on the jersey to make him lose his balance."

Why did you lie and are now pivoting to appealing to authority? This isn't even the first time I've caught you lying either.

This is such a great example of emotion and agenda overruling investigation and then ignoring evidence to keep to your original position. Your words are worth spit for anything you pretend to know.

Same here.

I'm by no means a Raiders fan, but even I was POed at changing the rules mid game for the tuck rule. Which was obviously aimed at Al Davis, as the NFL was mad because he bucked them.

Ugh, bro. Did you read the rule as it existed and see the video of what happened to see if it mirrored the rule? The NFL can't insert a rule that all teams haven't agreed to play under before the season starts. It was a rule that was on the books and by the circumstances, it was correctly called. I just got through saying in another thread that "should or should not be" is a different story, but it existed in the books. Dumb rule, sure, but it existed at the time and didn't get changed until it appeared to not make sense in an actual game (high profile, a la Dez and others).

The ball was not in the air at the time of the swim so OPI should have been off the table to begin with.
Can’t see it, but still a penalty to grab the jersey and do what he did to get open..
