its not about winning the money war...its about putting the team in best position to compete in post season....Dalton fold like a cheap Walmart chair in the playoff pressure as he has proven it 5 times....he folds under pressure of big games and under performs every time.....

you must be a finance guy since money is the one thing that matters to you, not winning.

I wouldnt' want Byron Jones.....we could have signed Quinn, we thought he asked for too much...and we had those two and defense wasn't that good......so how would the defense be better bringing them back?

and I find it funny, you are willing to over pay those two, yet not over pay Dak by a little....interesting...seems you are taking it personal with him.

Signing Dalton with Dak as your QB1 is great QB depth chart and room sense.

But signing Dalton to start is stupid. 8 seasons have shown 118 Career INTs and 14 Career Pick 6s.
Dalton will take any type of defense and kill their production. 8 seasons with Bengals is sufficient evidence..He had great, good and bad teams. Lewis is Garrett extra...

If Dak sits out and goes nuclear...Start Ben DiNucci still he spits the bit... insert Dalton for game or 3 then back to DiNucci...this is reality life without Dak.

Well if Dak didn’t show up I would assume he would win it by default....

so in essence you go into a perpetual search mode, never competing or having a chance, always rebuilding and wasting years of having cooper, CD, gallup because you don't want to over pay perhaps by a few million today (not tomorrow)..

and like I said, there are no similar QBs in the FA like Dak….Newton is available, but he can't get a bite anywhere including SD that chose to go with Tyrod Taylor and reached for a QB...lets see how it works out for them.....

in the meantime we have a proven winner and you want to throw it away, because you are OK with $30M a year, but not ok with $35M a year...so lets go into wasteland of football over $5M per year...

    interesting concept....

Look this is exactly what I would do as well if I ran a team, try to get a transcendent QB. Thing is, a head coach would not be up for this, their shelf life is tied to being able to develop those 1st round QBs. I truly believe if MM didn't sign off on Dak, we wouldn't have tagged him. Once coaches find a competent QB, they marry that guy and are usually stuck with them until they either get hurt or retire. Rarely do we see an Andy Reid/Alex Smith/Mahomes scenario. That was done wonderfully, but its not common.

I'm actually not sure Dak would win anymore games. I think maybe Dalton would lose a game or 2 Dak would win but I also think there are games where Dalton could win that Dak does not (like Eagles -Jets-NE games last year)

Lets be honest. Most teams play us to stop the run and make Dak beat us with his arm. Why is that? They wouldnt do that if Brady, Brees, Rodgers was the QB. I think Dalton could manage the QB positions just fine with the weapons we have and because he has better field vision than Dak I do not think he gets shutout in the games I mentioned above. That isnt to say that Dak hasnt won games with his feet and intangibles that Dalton probably wouldn't have.

Thats why I say its a wash when it comes to wins even if Dak is the better overall QB.

That sounds like a dumb plan to be honest. With a side of horrible analysis.

I am all for drafting QB's all the time, but you don't get rid of the incumbent until someone proves they are better.
Take a guy in the first round, that's fine. I would never want them to pass on a guy they think can be the franchise. But wollowing around in $#!+ until you find one makes little sense.

Especially if you have the type of talent we have now. This team is set up perfectly with your talent signed already for a 4 yearish run. To tear that all down now would be paramount to completely stupid.

And again...…….didn't hear you applauding Dak when we were paying him 1 million per year for 4 years.

And what reliable source did this come from and do you think Andy Dalton is that stupid. Dalton knew Dak was the guy and he knows Dallas is going to sign him. His time in Dallas is probably no more 1 or 2 years before a team will take another chance on him. As to leverage, seriously doubt it because if so then there are plenty other teams that would have paid more to get him.

Just goes to show how much he lacks the ability to properly analyze. Dak was getting 1 million per year for 4 years and he was still complaining.

-However he wants to make a one dimensional, non play making corner like Jones the highest paid corner
-AND he wants to pay big money to Quinn that was horrible against the run. The 3 guys we have playing RDE this year will be better than Quinn was last year. No question.

    I know..

Imagine if the Chiefs just followed the smart plan by building around their Dak Prescottish QB in Alex smith.

Instead they did the stupid thing and traded away picks for a high upside player in Patrick Mahomes.

    Idiots.

Just think of all of that mediocrity they could've enjoyed had they just stuck to the smart plan.

Exactly, we aren't the Cardinals where we suck and have the luxury of drafting 1st round QBs two years in a row to try to find the one. We also aren't the Dolphins that seemingly tanked last year and are rolling with Fitzpatrick and a rookie. Right now, its not time to rebuild. Not with a rookie. After the next 4 years, I'm down to make changes if we don't have playoff success.

I guess you didn't read my post. I said draft a QB all you want, even take on in the first round. Just don't start him until he is better than the incumbent. Which is EXACTLY what the Chiefs did. LOL

What your plan suggested was that they should have cut Alex Smith all together. Talk about a plan to assure being bad to mediocre? LOL

And how many years did it take them to find Mahomes? You have to go all the way back to 1994 with Joe Montana to find a great QB and he was past his prime. Then before that is was Len Dawson back in 1974. LOL

    Anything else?

its a gamble! Andy Reid had already coached the Chiefs for 4 years before drafting Mahomes. You aren't even giving MM a chance to roll with Dak.

Dak has one of the worst field vision I ever seen in a QB. Hence why he needs "Dak friendly" receivers. He needs to see separation. Or how about all the times the announcers show Dak running for a first down and them saying - yeah the run was nice but this guy was wide open. Dak also holds onto the ball too long because he cant process the field quick enough. Takes unnecessary sacks. I do think he improved on that last year but its still an issue.

there in lies the difference..... ALex smith is not Dak, never was Dak, Alex Smith was more Dalton than anything else. nothing Alex Smith did ever came close to Dak...and Alex was #1 over all pick.

so who is the next Patrick Mahomes that's going to fall into the 10-20 range we should be focused on getting....

please look into your crystal ball and tell us the facts that we will see 4 years from now....

The last 4 years Dak is better than the lats 4 years Dalton, that's for sure.

I don't think year 1-4 Dak is better than year 1-4 Dalton however.

That said, can the loser mentality and bad habits he has developed be changed back to the QB he was - who knows! With the team we have put together on the offensive side of the ball, it is a QB dream come true. I would think that would rejuvenate anybody!
