How did Carpenter ever get picked in the first round? He is the definition of soft.

Did anybody else see the first series when Sage Rosenfel came in and it was 3 and 4. They run a draw and Carpenter actually put his hand on the runners head and jumped back like he was protecting his legs, letting the runner gain a couple extra yards and the first down.

That play alone is a good reason to cut him.

Has Carpenter ever actually stood a runner up? He's bringing around 250lbs with him and he never uses it. He always seems to be standing near the pile when the whistle blows or managing to hold on as he's dragged for a couple more yards, and he's almost never the first one there.

Cut your losses and keep a guy who at least has some toughness. :bang2:

Yeah, I'm an optimist and had hope...

But Carp blows. He's got one more year to gather a paycheck and make our ST soft

Yeah Bobby Carpenter stinks, bad pick by Parcells... He isn't nearly as physical as I'd hoped, you never see him absolutely decleat someone!

Bobby Carpenter is one of our better special teams players and his roster spot is secure for that reason alone.

well considering the way our ST looks might as well get rid of him.

Yeah, me too -- I'm an optimist and had hope...

But Carp blows. He's got one more year at most. I was really rooting for the kid, but he is a piss poor tackler with no nuts.

Then the question is would that make things better or worse?

Sad to say, but It this point I think getting rid of this guy is the thing to do. Via trade or release and whether its this year or next. I would like to see if any ST heros get caught up in a number crunch. and released first. There has got to be someone cut that looks better than this guy. I don't see any desire in him at all. ... no fire.

He probably won't be on this team next year unless he flips some switch during the regular season and makes a load of plays when he's in but he's not going anywhere this year with us being thin at linebacker now.

We're all unimpressed with how Carp has looked on defense, but I can't forget that he looked pretty good to close his rookie season after struggling adjusting to the NFL game.

Given that and the fact we didn't ship him to Dallas South, he's who they called for, I'll keep some hope Carp might yet settle in.

He really doesn't have any trade value in my eyes.

We need Burnett and Spencer back badly

I zeroed in on Carp most of game and he sucks. Worse than Als. He should be cut candidly.

Didn't see it tonight, but Zach Thomas has attacked the hole and ball carrier in a way not seen last year this pre-season.

He diagnoses and responds before anyone else.
