Needs to be done. We fell in love with the return of Kosier because Procter was TERRIBLE. But this guy is not the answer. Make no mistake, this guy is not starting LG material for the type of offense we want to run. Flo is still massive, he has years left on his contract, and he can help the progression of Doug Free at LT. What do you think zoners?

I think if Dallas was comfortable with replacing Flo with Free at tackle that Flo does give us a clear option for the guard position. Flo started his career at guard for Dallas and would not be shocked if he finished his career as a guard in Dallas.

Some upsides to that is with his hearing problem it becomes a bit less of a problem at the guard spot than it does the tackle spot and Flo has the size and strength to play on the inside. The big key though is Free ability to take over that position. I do think it is worth a look.

I don't know if Flo can play gard, but why not at least try.

I would really like Free playing LT over Flo. He can make plays that Flo simply can't and have the ability to play against fast LB or DE. And he will still improve, Flo will get slower and slower.

i like it if it would work but where does kosier go? to the bench? He is a great lineman on sweeps and screens getting out in space...

As much as I want this idea to work...alas like HOs I just don't see it. You have to be both a mauler and athletic enough to get out and run down field to play guard: something he can't do anymore. This man is 35 yrs. old....he'd be hurt and on IR by week 5 or sooner IMO

I fell in love with Kosier's return because he sporting that Grizzly Adam's Beard. That thing was awesome!

Can't see where Flo could get on on those pulling assignments to be a good guard at this point in his career, which would end up hurting the plays we could call in the run game. He is much more of a prototypical LT because of his size and reach.

sure...but it is football. And it's not like this is an uncommon move...many OTs move inside at the end of there careers. Just like many CBs move to Safety near the end. I can EASILY see that being the case with Newman in a couple of years. Flozell has some time left on his contract, he can still play. He is the longest tenured Cowboys and I would love to see him finish what he started. He could help Free transition. We need Free to take that spot NOW. Free cannot continue to come off the bench. Take over now so we can find out NOW if he is the answer. All of this while having the luxury of Flo moving back outside if it is a disaster.

Flo wouldn't do a very good job of pulling from that guard spot so I guess you're going to eliminate any, and all, plays that require your LG to be able to move out into space?

Flo was a starting guard for us his 1st couple of seasons before being moved to tackle.

Yeah, Flo couldn't pull for anything.

Than just keep Flo on the bench cause with Flo over Free, you also eliminate a lot of plays.

slow down with this Flo cannot pull. He is the best tackle on this team...which means he is quick enough to get in front of the freakiest athletes in the NFL...yet he cannot pull a couple of times a game? Heck Kosier cannot anchor and he cannot move anyone off the ball...that is for those who have NOT been paying attention

I believe he first cracked the LU at RG. If you're going to shuffle the OL a little and convert Adams to OG, you might as well move him to ROG so his good ear faces the QB. Davis could just as easily play LOG.

Keep thinking that, Flo can only move in "phone booth" movements.

Pulling as a guard and moving to block as a tackle are very different things. Kosier is very quick- Flo is not.

This thread brings a question to mind I've been wanting to ask ADAM.

What's the contact status of our starting 5 lineman.
..............2010cap#......2011cap#
Adams
Koiser
Gurode
Davis
Columbo

Considering the average age of our OL, we may have 5 new staters for the 2012 season!
That's alarming since I'd like to think we're a SB contending team for the next 3 years.

My point is we almost can't poor enough resources into the position this year and next. I.E. FA$ and draft picks.

Adams is the best tackle on the team period.

Free IMO really needs to get his power up. He can pass protect, but he has no punch on running plays. I would prefer to have Free play RT and reach into a magic hat and find a dominating left tackle. :laugh2:

That would be better because he don't have to move around too quick on speed rushers and plus he got power, like Leonard Davis he can be a mauler if he gets his hand on the person that is ahead of him.

I saw pretty good run on the right side while Free reaplaced Columbo... I bet you it wasn't because Davis open it all by himself.
