Got this off of the PMB:

From Ask PFW on Patriots.com:

I take EVERYTHING ol Tom Casele says with a grain of salt. :p: It's a nice story that is not happening. It's not at OLB that the Patriots are thin at. And Pats actually expect a LB to cover which Ellis can't do.

wow- this board is a trip. Unless you hear that from Greg Ellis it has no merit!!!
He has every right to worry about his job. Why does everyone care so much?? He sure backs it up on the field. As far as I know he hasn't said ANYTHING since Wade Phillips said he has nothing to worry about. He is a starter.

That doesn't even make sense.

He wants to take a pay cut to play on a winning team, but he's unhappy being one of the cheapest starters on a winning team. I'm confused.

Not only that, but he wouldn't even start which is his other biggest beef... or concern.

Either this story is bogus, or Ellis is crazy.

Anyone know how long his reupped contract is for?

This is a total BS source. 1st of all he isn't a Free Agent and I question the credibility right there. Why do some of you guys all ways get all worked up over things like this.

Nice to see everybody overreact to unsubstantiated information.

Par for the course.

If we do trade him, I seriously doubt it is to the Patriots

Yea, this is total BS post. As soon as I read the part about Ellis playing for less money I knew it was some made up BS.

Anybody here actually think Ellis is going to take a paycut, especially considering he would not get back on the field until Jerry coughed up more cash, even though he was medically cleared.

He complains every year about wanting more money, now I am to believe that suddenly he is willing to take less to go to NE. I dont buy it. I dont listen to anything regarding Ellis in the offseason. No one Jerry is going to let him go, it would be stupid. He will be in a contract year, so you know he will give it his all in hopes of getting paid after the season.

Exactly. If he leaves, he's going to the team that gives him the biggest payday.

I also had a source down in Big D tell me that Ellis wants to go to a Super Bowl contender and mentioned the Patriots as a team he would like to play for. Ellis would be a logical Belichick addition, a hungry veteran who will take less money to come to New England because he wants to win a Super Bowl.
Less money? Ellis? OK whatever.

Ellis is not a Belichick player. He looks for versatile guys who aren't gonna want a lot of money.

I doubt Ellis takes less money and I he's one of the least versatile linebackers the cowboys have.

this might help you...

playing for belichek. 3 super bowl wins and possibly a fourth.

playing for wade. 0-4.

does that help at all?

No, none at all. He'd be a pure backup in New England, whereas Wade got him to a career year and voted NFL Comeback POY.
