Last I read was that the Cowboys hadn't contacted his agents, though typcially we had in prior years (around this time).

If we want to get the running game going, we're going to need a solid 2nd TE who can run block.

Do you think this is a Draft priority or FA priority? We all know BP loves his TEs . . . .

I'm hoping if we don't pick up Campbell, we look to Tuman (sp?) out of Pitts.

Not sure what Valley Ranch thinks of Pierce or Ryan on the PS as blocking TEs.

Any opinions/thoughts?

In all honesty, I wouldn't lose any sleep if Dallas didn't re-sign any of their free agents.

Sadly, Gurode is probably the one I'd want back most.

I think that we need an upgrade at the 2nd TE position. I am not opposed to having Campbell as the 3rd TE, although I am not sure if he will be able to play special teams. Pierce played well on special teams before his injury and is a solid blocker.

I wanted us to address the TE situation last year.............Heath Miller.

In hindsight is I think most wouldn't mind having Heath Miller over Marcus Spears. Both had excellent rookie seasons based on their draft value and role within the team.

Oh well.........stay tuned for my mock draft. It's gonna be a shocker:laugh2:

p.s. Tony Curtis.........remember the name

I agree,and i think the teams' chemistry stays intact.I
believe the players need to feel a sense of unity and loyalty, and
to a guy with his heart and skills, also brings leadership. It's easy to just cut
someone to free up money,i just don't think Campbell will be that
much.

I know where you're coming from.

I had the Cowboys taking Marcus Spears with the Ware pick in my initial mock draft last year. Thats how highly I thought of him.

I think Campbell is a fairly high priority for the Cowboys and feel confident that they will get him resigned.

Miller would have had virtually no value to us last year. Our draft grade was an A on most pundit's lists. One of the top 3 or 4 in the whole NFL.

Taking him that high (22) would have raised more eyebrows than Lady Godiva riding down the street in her birthday suit. The pick didn't make sense then and it still doesn't. He didn't exactly make a huge impact where he ended up. Certainly not as big as Witten did when he arrived here.

Campbell is a pretty good blocker, but seemed to slip in his blocking last year. I used to think he was underrated as a pass receiver, but you could tell that his injury really slowed him down last season.

Michael Irvin once said that he can go into a lockerroom and within 30 minutes tell what players the team must have around because of their leadership skills. I believe he's right with that and as long as they produce to a degree, it's extremely important to keep those guys around.

Anyway, I think Dan Campbell is one of those players.

I think Campbell is a great player and would hate seeing him go , but I don't think Dallas will try to resign him . I've got Dallas taking a TE in the 2nd round in my mock draft right now . I know it's hard to justify taking another TE that high , but I believe it's the Parcells way . The WRs in this draft suck ! Argue it all you want , but when a 5-11 185lbs. junior who only runs a 4.49 40 is your top receiver in the draft , then it is a weak receiver draft .

Parcells loves TEs , Dallas runs numerous two TE sets , Dallas needs more offensive weapons , and the genetic clone to Mark Bavaro is in this draft . I've got Dallas taking Anthony Fasano from Notre Dame in the 2nd round . Fasano is the best blocking/receiving combo in the draft , played for an ex Parcells disciple in C. Wise , and is the spitting image of M. Bavaro .

While I do look for Dallas to pick up a receiver in the draft , I look for it to be in the very late rounds , and wouldn't be surprised if it's another QB turned WR . We've all watched Pittsburgh do it with both Ward and Randle-El , and Dallas has had success with Crayton . Why not try it again ? I expect for Dallas to look at guys like Michael Robinson , Brad Smith , and especiall Reggie McNeil if he were to fall far enough .

I have never understood why some people felt we needed two pass catching te's? We already have Witten to catch passes. We need a TE to block.

I like Miller but we already had a player like him.

I wouldn't lose a second of sleep if Campbell wasn't resigned.

I'd rather have one of our young TEs on the field rather than Campbell.

In 2004, without Mr. Campbell, Julius Jones tore up defenses!

This draft is deeper in top flight TEs than any draft in a long time. The Boys might opt for the draft.
