Opinion: Our next Head Coach wil be Paul Pasqualoni (our current LBs coach)

Insiders at www.dallascowboys.com (see below) seem to think that current LBs coach Paul Pasqualoni may replace Zimmer at defensive coordinator if Parcells returns. So I was thinking, why not have Pasqualoni replace Parcells alltogether as the Head Coach - either this year or next? Since we're keeping the 3-4 defense, this seems to make sense, since Pasqualoni knows the defense and has 14 years experience as a head coach in college. Parcels' successor may already be on the team. What are your thooghts?

There is a chance the Cowboys could promote from within to replace Zimmer.

If that happens, look for linebackers coach Paul Pasqualoni and secondary coach Todd Bowles to be the two leading candidates.

Pasqualoni certainly has the edge in coaching experience, having served the last two years here in Dallas as tight ends coach in 2005 and then overseeing the linebacker position this past season. Prior to arriving in Dallas, he finished an 18-year stint with the University of Syracuse that included 14 years as the head coach.

As for Bowles, who also has been on the staff for the last two years as the secondary coach, he brings a different coaching style that appears to be easily welcomed by the players. Bowles, 43, played eight years in the NFL as a defensive back, but has spent the last six years coaching in the league with the Jets, Browns and now the Cowboys.

I read something where they're considering letting both Bowles and Pasqualoni be "co-defensive coordinators", in which I'll be infuriated and pissed off.

Todd Bowles and Paul Pasqualoni as co-coordinators.

Oh, yeah!:yourock:

And then Bowles takes over once Parcells leaves? I'm in heaven.

The Cowboys can't win right now if Parcells sticks around. Regardless of whether he wins on the field or not, every wrong move will be overscrutinized and people will ultimately scratch off the rest of his coaching staff for the same mistakes, warranted or not.

Personally I'd like to see somebody completely new. Pasqualoni was basically the savior of Syracuse's program, but he benefitted from some amazing talent (Freeney, Harrison, McNabb) and some even better luck with some terrible play-calls. I'll pass on him as a HC, but I'd like to see how he does at DC.

Like has been said, if he ends up as a co-DC, that has disaster written all over it.

So Pasqualoni coached Bradie James this past season? Wow. And Bowles coached Roy Williams?

And that co-DC idea is dumb. Just make Bowles the DC. I have a feeling the guy is smart, despite coaching Roy.

well actually Mike macintrye coached the safetys.

And vincent brown was the inside linebackers coach.

Last year at this time everyone wanted al saunders or mike martz because they said our offense sucked.

Haley/sporano/parcells pulled that job this year and the offense was the best we have seen in a decade, plus we have a young qb now.

So saying that Paul P/Todd bowles could not do it is flawed.

Terrance newman has already expressed how much he likes Todd Bowles.

We just have to wait and find out.

Defense is different than offense. I don't think you can divide a defense up into run-pass segments like you can an offense. I like Bowles as a coach better than Paul P. I would take him as the DC right now, but not the co-DC.

you actually can if BP is going to be having the majority of the say on how the D is run on gamedays, like he was w/ the O

a coordinator under BP basically just devises the game-day plan during the week, presents it to Bill, and Bill gives his input and puts the finishing touches on it

I am willing to bet that there is ZERO chance that Paul P. becomes our head coach. Ever.

I would have to agree. If he does, well, I don't know what I'd do.

CO-coordinators.

What is the advantage of that? In case one meets an untimely end, the defensive planning doesn't miss a beat?

I confess I don't see what this does for us or any team, other than make things more confusing. Even if both are equally qualified, there should be something, like a coin toss, arm-wrestling, etc.

"There can be only one..."

What if the co-coordinators disagree? I assume Parcells steps in? But that makes the coordinator(s) sort of figurehead(s).

Hmmm.:bang2:

I'm still in support of Parcells, but if Pasqualoni winds up being head coach, I won't be watching the team. I put up with 14 years of that crap at Syracuse. I'll be spending my Sundays on the golf course.

WOw It wasnt that bad. I watched those years in syracuse also, a bunch of them in person at the dome. Nothing that terrible ever happened. He brought alot of good players to that program, there havent been any elite players since he left. They havent won any bowl games since he left.

I would take Paul P. over greg robinson.

To say you would quit watching the cowboys in that scenario is kind of crazy minus the kind of.
