I don't think there are any 30-something year olds who declared for the draft. While there some implied ageism, McNair's comments do not dismiss certain options for upgrading the position.

True, but it's gonna be hard for them to get around that Osweiler contract. The numbers don't make sense.

That contract is really only a two year deal. he will make something like 16/17 guaranteed this year. After that, he's free and clear. I think it could really depend on how they might decide to structure a deal with Tony and how much he really wanted to start for a Houston.

I'm with you. Osweiler has one year left and he's gone, that's clear. They tried and failed with that move, they and everyone else knows it.

But one mistake shouldn't cause them to make another and not pursue a quality quarterback when they can get one.

This is just more of the 'negotiation dance' that all organizations go through.

A young QB in the draft is very unlikely (but obviously not impossible) to contribute right away. He would likely need time to learn and grow. That doesn't help them get over their playoff hump. Neither will Brock. Getting young for the future is nice, especially with an elite QB in place while they learn.

To me, it's a price Texas will eventually have to pay because of the decision they made with Osweiler. To me, its a window discussion for Texas. They have a team, IMO, that could really challenge if they had good QB play. The real question is, will Texas be willing to wait the three seasons, or so, it would take to get a young QB up to speed and ready to seriously challenge for a Super Bowl or are they willing to be patient and wait and if they wait, are they rebuilding their team again because the window has closed?

Too early in the offseason to know what teams will do. I still think Tony is worth more than your average aging QB. He can literally be a difference maker for 3-4 teams out there. Some one of them is going to cough up a pick to lock him up rather than bidding for him on the open market.

They might luck into a Dak Prescott.
