As of right now, is JAson Witten a Hall of Famer? I vote he is a show in.

If he never wins a playoff game or a superbowl the chances are he probably wont make it.

NO....but, give him 3-4 more years at this level and he is a definite HOFer.

Did Jackie Smith win a superbowl with the team he was with before he came to the Cowboys? I know that dirty butter fingered rat lost one for us.

A show in? What exactly in your mind makes him a show in? He hasn't won a playoff game, nor come close to a Superbowl. I doubt he will put up Tony Gonzalez numbers, and hes a sure lock for the Hall of Fame, even though he hasn't won a playoff game either. But you can't say any of the Cheifs teams he was on were better than the Cowboys team we had last year.

I gotta rank Witten in the Top 5 tight ends playing right now, but putting him into the hall of fame is pushing the envelope for me.

If Witten can keep this pace going for another 5 - 7 years, then yes, I think he makes the HoF.

No, made the playoffs twice in 15 years and eliminated first round in both of them. But with us he still won playoff games and made it to the superbowl. There was definitely a better case for him then Witten has right now.

Amazing regular season plays aren't enough to make it. Unless he accumulates massive individual records, makes the superbowl, or atleast gets playoff wins chances are he wont make it.

Let's just say he's off to a good start. The fact that a broken down wreck like Bledsoe kept ignoring him didn't help.

I think Witten has to play at the same high level he produced last year to even get consideration & the reality is he posted those numbers only cause we forced use him as our #2 WR. So if one of our WRs steps it up/we add a WR, it will decrease Witten's numbers. Besides, Gates & Gonzales are more WRs then TEs & Dallas Clark of the Colts isn't in the same ballpark with any of these 3. Anyway, I doubt Witten has a chance for the HOF unless we win some playoff games and a few SBs. In any case he certainly not a shoo-in. Now Bennett is more in the mold of a Gates or Gonzales although he also lacks their speed; but he sure looks more like a WR then a TE.

Agreed. BTW I wasn't disagreeing with you, I just didn't know his history before he came to the Cowboys.

Absolutely not....he doesn't have the stats or body of work to get in as a TE. If his career ended now, he wouldn't even sniff the early lists.

He's good enough, but he probably needs another 6-8 years at a very high level to be considered. Tony Gonzalez is having a freakish career with longevity and productivity...once he goes in, the next TE after him will have to have damn impressive numbers to even be considered.

He has had about as good a first 5 years as any TE out there. I think if he plays another 4-5 years he will make it in.

Is Witten a HOFer............Ummmmmmmmm hell no, he's off to a great start but is this a joke, Tiki Barber won't even make the Hall and his last 4 years were great.

the guy has not even won a playoff game...are you kidding me? this entire team and us as fans need to stop looking at stats and pro bowls....and the players need to stop worrying about being the highest paid.....we have not won a playoff game since 1995....it is embarrassing and it is not due to a lack of talent. jerry jones has done his part....the ink in his pen is dry from writing checks....win something!
