What are your thoughts on this?

Quite frankly, I think it's stupid, pure and simple. What is it...a 3 hour flight there and back? Is Bill saying that that 12 hour span is a hinderance to the Cowboys as far as adequate preparation time?

Bill, you're taking the team away from it's element (families, familiar environment, etc)...don't you think that would be more of a distraction than flying back and forth?

On a short week that gives them at least one maybe two extra practise days. I can't blame him for doing it.

Maybe it is an equipment issue...takes more time to load and unload equipment then just a flight like the players?

Maybe it is an idea to have more time in practice and film study?

Maybe it is an idea that it is cooler in Cali?

I really don't know but I am sure there is a legit, or they feel it is a legit, reason for doing this.

I am sure JJ would not want to spend the extra money it would cost to keep them in Cali during that time if they did not have what they consider a good reason.

It is fine with me, really I do not care one way or the other.

I guess if he BP thinks it gives the Coaching Staff more time, all good.

A flight takes longer than the 3 hour flight itself, check in, baggage claim, etc. You always have to arrive at the airport 1-2 hours early, so thats potentially 6 hours to get back to TX. BP said himself that staying in the bay area allows him to review all the film before they would even get off the plane.

Good enough for me.

I'm considering driving down to fremont and just hanging out in hotel lobby and trying to meet some players. Any inside info on where they are staying pittdawg? Or is that classified info? :)

LOL! What a week that will be!

With you there we all know we go 2-0. That should just make it even better.

Tell Rob we all are pulling for him and the team!

GO COWBOYS!

I'm not opposed to it. I think it's a break from the norm and may keep the team loose especially on the heels of a tough loss like Monday nights game. Hopefully we don't go 1-1 on this excursion like Coach Parcells two other squads did when he stayed on the left coast for back to back games years ago. I believe I read that each time his team lost the second game.

It depends on how the players handle themselves. Some teams have too many distractions at home. Others find too many distractions on the road.

don't know if it's classified, but can tell you it's between san fran and san jose. unfortunately, i don't know the name, but it's a resort facility. the team is going to practice at san jose st.

I don't necessarily understand the need to stay out there the whole time. I heard Aikman on The Ticket yesterday and he said it made no sense to him. He said you live in Dallas so it's usually a 3 hour plane ride to anywhere they go and the time change doesn't really affect the players much anyway. He said it's harder to go east than it is to go west. He felt like the distraction of being out of your routine, staying in a hotel, taking a bus to and from practice and being away from your family outweighed the difficulty of two straight west coast trips.

I could see the necessity if the SF game was a Monday nighter with Tuesday being wasted to catch up on rest.

BP knows what's best...he is the coach afterall. I guess this is one instance that if you don't know everything that's going on, it's hard to understand the logic of it.

I think it eliminates the hassel of multiple plane trips. It provides alot more stability to the players since they know they will be in the same place for a week. They are in a RESORT for a week, its not like they are staying in the Holiday Inn or something. Who wouldn't love a week away from teh Family in a resort? Its not like it is a year or something.

With the possiblity of Hurricane Rita stalling over Texas and Louisiana after it hits land Saturday morning and the possibility of very severe weather over the weekend in that area, who knows what that could do to airlines traveling in and out of the area.

So this may be the perfect weekend to not fly in and out of the DFW area, and it may work out best to stay in California while it's going on, sorta like the Saints did at the end of the pre-season.

I think it is a good insurance against jet lag.

I don't think it really matters either way, but I think the team is smart to consider it.

Getting away from families and such might actually help their concentration. Might help jog them loose of some bad habits (penalties). Serves to take their minds off of the monday night mess. Pretty much no other distractions can be had for the next 8 days - concentrate on going 2-0. AND with Rita making a mess real close to Dallas, getting out of town might be the best thing of all.
