I think they go with five - Carr, Jones, Claiborne, White, Patmon. Ross I think makes the practice squad.

I agree that those five are the only corners who will be kept. This assures McCray's spot, and I do think it might open a spot for Scott.

I do think we are a lot better at CB than last year (minus Scandrick injury). Good thing we have this depth too.

We are more talented. We could lose more games and that first sentence is still true.

More talented doesn't necessarily mean you're a better team. There's been more "talented' QB's than Montana and Brady over the years but they never ended up being better QB's. The Cowboys have had some of the most talented teams in the league but never reached a SB with those teams. In the early 80's the teams they had that lost 3 straight title games were considered by many the most talented rosters in the league.

Yes, a lot of the time five corners are all you keep anyway. Not letting Carr go, drafting Jones and picking up White are really all looking like necessary moves now. I don't want to diminish Scandrick as a player, because I think he's become very good, but the corner depth we've built is perfect for this situation.

We've really only got a few spots where I think our depth is too shallow, and I'm thankful we haven't lost the starters at those spots and hope we don't or we might be looking at a tough season.

And patmon could really be that one player who steps up this year. Coaches love him, and he has made plays for us

Yeah, those still sting a little especially the loss in the 81 title game. None of the teams that beat the Cowboys in those title games were more "talented."

Agree. And that's when I'll start losing sleep. Scandrick loss, although obviously tough , I can handle.

Front 7 is what makes the defense work. In the 90s we have Kevin Smith and Larry Brown . They would have been smoked without that great DLINE.

Kevin Smith was a fantastic cb before the injury. He was never the same after that.

I do like that he apparently put in the work to get better and hope it pays off for him and us. What makes me feel better about this loss, though, is we don't just have one option here (like we do at certain positions). If Claiborne can't handle the starting role, then there's Jones. If he can't handle it, then there's White. If he can't handle it, then there's Patmon. Maybe not necessarily in that order, but I do believe that will be the order.

It's not like looking at Weems starting at tackle if something were to happen to Smith or Free ... that's scary (although I believe Collins would be given a crash course and inserted into the lineup fairly quickly if that were to happen).

Scott missing that block that allowed Quinton Patton to block the punt for a TD will not help matters for him.

I agree on that. That was a bad moment for him ... but he's had some good moments, too.

I think ultimately we'll just go with nine DBs, though, because it allows us to go longer at tight end or DL, where we would otherwise have to cut a more talented player than Scott.
