You're a rook...

Summerall and Brookshire were THE TEAM, well before Madden showed up.
They were great, no doubt; maybe even the best. I love Madden though and so, for me, Summerall and Madden were my favorites.

I loved Saturday nights... WPIX out of NYC would do a one hour show with Madden and Brookshire, "This Week In The NFL". Great show. It had all that terrific music.

The best was right at the beginning of the game when he would go through our offensive starters. "Tuinei, Newton, Stepnoski..."

I would just get this rush of adrenaline. I definitely miss the summerall/madden combo. Good days.

Just got a chill.

You have to remember Summerall was very sick when he had to stop broadcasting.

Madden and Summerall were the best.

Madden and Summerall were the only ones worth listening to IMO. Most announcers just bore me.

Not even close. I listened to Summerall for a long time. Even in his "prime". The guy said things that didn't happen, then would miss things that did happen. He simply added nothing to my enjoyment of the game.

Guys like Dick Enberg and Greg Gumble (and even Al Michaels in his prime) make the game more enjoyable by calling the action as it should be. Michaels in his prime was probably the best, even with his 49ers bias.
you are way off base with these comments, Pat was the best and he's still better then Gumbel.
