Bernie was doing interviews almost every week last year.TheRomoSexual;5087446 said:Or, maybe it's because the Cowboys have a rule against lineman doing interviews? Seriously people.
You have an obligation to speak to the media as a professional athlete. Lets be real. Too much is invested into these players to just shut your mouth and never speak, especially when you're Doug Free...the most controversial player on the team now.DBOY3141;5087461 said:I don't think if I was an athlete that I would talk to the media either. Seems in today's world, all they want to do is create a "drama" story. All they want to talk to Free about is his contract and what he thinks about taking a paycut and does he think he should of had to do that. Try to see if he has issues with JJ or JG.
vs
Talking about has he improved and how he thinks the OL will fare this year.
When he doesn't speak, the questions and responsibility falls on his teammates. That's not fair. The burden should be shared. Seeing Jason Witten have to speak up 3 times a week for the team while others constantly shy away from the media is ridiculous. Free, man up, open your mouth and answer some questions for once in your life. You are the elder statesman of the line for crying out loud.Cowboys22;5087463 said:Why does he owe you, the media, or anybody an interview? He's not stupid. He knows what the media does. They only want to interview him to try and get him to say something negative they can turn into a major story for the next news cycle. Not everyone is an attention hog wanting to put their business out their for the world to see. Some people are simply introverted and like to keep their business to themselves. Leon Lett was famous for this. Maybe Free is the same way. I wouldn't want to talk to the media either if I just went through a difficult situation and haven't played well recently. I would know exactly what would be written and I wouldn't want to give them any more ammunition or help them in any way. The only thing Free owes anyone is to try his best to regain his form and play better. That's all I care about, not whether he talks to the media or not.
Most offensive linemen just don't seem to have the outward attitude of a Nate Newton, who would always talk to the press. I miss him playing, I wish more linemen would speak up more.dogberry;5087688 said:Does Smith (T) talk to the press?
And on shear potential, I hope Heath makes the roster. I need a "shear potential" list of players.
